Go over the persons icon where it has Top Contributor and it shows the category - and from what I can tell it has to do with best answers in that category.
Sorry I don't know more.
What would Cartmen think?

The more you answer in a particular category, and the more Best Answers you get (not the percentage) the more likely you are to get a "top contributor" badge next to your name, up to 3 categories. Levels, and points have nothing to do with it. I have it for answering in Yahoo 360 and Yahoo Answers categories, neither of which am I on the leaderboard, but I have been answering alot of questions in these categories recently. I do lead the category DIY and I do not have "top contributor" for that category, but I haven't answered much in that one for a while.

They just updated and the people with a certain amount of votes in a room they voted to be top contributor . You will to if you keep answering questions and get best answer votes . Good Luck !!!

If you put your cursor over there orange badge you'll see it's meaning.... A top contributor is someone who is knowledgeable in a particular category.

No offense to people who got the title, but it's non sense. It rewards staying in one category. I like diversity and just because someone only answers in one category doesn't add anything to their credentials to me.
Java Ji'g answer is adorable!!! It made me smile because I would feel the same way! Very cute!!! ;o)

I had to go searching this morning to see what it was. I answer in other categories, but I guess I post here more than anywhere else by the looks of it.

It's sort of weird, it's not like I give better answers than others who don't have it. I wonder if they give it for best answers or just so many answers in one category that you get the title.
