For the past two weeks I've just had a sudden drop in motivation. I'm usually a bit insane when it comes to doing well in school, but now I just don't care. I just don't have any desire to try, my house is a mess and I'm watching a lot more TV (I never used to before).

I don't think this is depression, I've dealt with that before, and I do take medicine for ADHD. Is there anything I can do to motivate myself?

Normaly I do take action first without the motivation, there are times where I have killed myself working on a paper when all I wanted to do was sleep, but now I just don't.

Cute analogy, but on some level the runner is motivated, otherwise he wouldn't get up to begin with.

Thanks asandldive, it's probably partly because I'm transfering to a different school next year and only need Cs to transfer the credits... no longer a need to get As in gen ed courses that don't relate to my major.

your ADD meds may be "pooping out"... you may need an increase or you may need to change meds. but i would give it a few months before i decide to switch meds... it took me a year to get where i am with my meds and am happy... but i still go thru being completely focused to sometimes wanting to just browse the web all day... keep in mind the chemical imbalance that causes ADD may not be the same at all times, how you eat and how life is can affect it... but if the meds your on work most of the time stay on them. i've asked myself the same question a million times "how do i motivate myself?" ...after hearing a bunch of people saying "just do it" or "just get up!" (what jerks, if it was that simple it wouldn't be a problem) i found that the use of timers has helped me. i set up Outlook (not Outlook Express) to have alarms go off at certain times for me to do things, when to do dishes, laundry reminder, pill reminder, pick up kids reminder... and i have timers i downloaded from yahoo widgets that i click when i go online so i'll only be on for just so long. a schedule that i follow and timing what i do has worked for me. schedule the tasks and allow a certain amount of time for it. hope all works out for you....

People often seek out motivation and create the excuse that they can't do something until their motivated. Successful people, on the other hand, will often not be motivate but they choose to take action anyway.

Take a runner who gets up early in the morning. He's tired. It's cold outside. He's not motivated to run. He gets dressed and goes outside. He's still not motivated. He starts running. He's still not motivated. A while into his run, he's breathing more oxygen. He's got a stride. He starts to develop motivation. He completes the run and feels great. He's now motivated for the run he just finished!

The more he does this, the more he'll build the habit of taking action. Motivation is usually an excuse of why you're not taking action. Take action first. The motivation will come.

I know just what you're talking about. It really is just the time of year... you're waiting for summer, nice weather, and more free and fun time. It happens to everyone. My advice is to go all natural. Try to stop drinking caffiene or eating a lot of sweets... get a good workout and some exercise everyday. Your iron level might be low... take vitamins. Drink a glass of skim milk every day before bed, and drink atleast 4 bottles of water throughout the day. Really try to limit your tv time, you can. If you need to get motivated to be more studios watch workout shows or even Gilmore Girls. Try to want good grades and remember that you whole future depends on how you are doing now in high school. Get active!!! Goodluck girl :)

You could be going through a phase. Have you had the flu lately? I find that during or coming out of a flu I am very demotivated and don't even seem to care whether I live or die.
