Well, the research I came up with indicates that small amounts (little bits) would probably be OK and the newer, stronger units say they can handle any amount of them.

But along with things like celery ribs and ends, artichoke parts, etc., potato peels (in bulk) are considered "fibrous" vegetable matter and tend to clog the older units that aren't really designed to handle them.

I used to put potato peels down the disposal all the time (I don't have a disposal now). I even dropped a whole potato down there once and it worked.
Did you know that egg shells sharpen the blades?

I think the main reason for this is that one of the worst smells in the world is rotten potato. Remnants of potato will rot, producing that horrible smell.
