I have been taking neurontin for about two months. My doctors keeps increaseing my dosage. I am at 600 mg 4 times a day. I take it for essential tremors. I have noticed lack of orgasm and wondered if this is what is causing it.

I took Neurontin for quite a while, and I definitely noticed sexual side effects. The doctor tried to give me Viagra, but I'm young, so it made no sense. Now I'm off the Neurontin, and it's been a great change -- back to normal.

I am a male taking 900 mg once at bedtime for a little over a year now and recently started having problems with the ability to obtain and erection. I didn't have this problem initially, but now it has manifested itself to where I am very concerned. I have had several back surgeries that resulted in burning and sweating legs (neuropathy pain) which Neurontin/Gabapentin has helped control. There is information on the web that suggests the older you get and the longer you take the medicine the more likely you can have sexual side effect.

Not knowing what the cause is see if a chiropractor and massage therapist with the principles in the book at the bottom help.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

I have been having the same problem. I take 1800 mg a day for nerve pain and a couple of months after I started taking it I had trouble. I never had a problem before I started taking it.
