What beer goes best with Asian Food? I love Tiger Beer (www.tigerbeer.co.uk) but I want to know of others.

There are as many different beers as there are wines and types of "Asian Food".

I have always found pilsners to be the best with rice dishes, especially with fish.

If the dish is more chicken or so forth, a "weissbier" ("wheat beer" in german) goes well.

Stay away from dark beers for most asian dishes as a rule of thumb.

If you are looking for a specific choice or two:

Budweiser. Yes, a beer snob is recommending a very common beer! Most well-known american beers like Busweiser and Miller actually have a small amount of rice in them, as opposed to german-style wheat beers. I have personally found this to go well with rice dishes as well as the occasional shot of Jack Daniels.

If you really want an asian beer, I have found Kirin to be about right. Not a big fan of the beer, but it is light and does not clash or overpower delicately flavored foods like sushi. I love sushi and when I do drink a beer with my sushi, something like Kirin is what I pick.

Hops this helps. Yes I said hops. ;^)

Depends on the country.

For japanese type food, then japanese beers, like Asahi or Kirin Ichiban are fantastic.

Chinese, you can't really go too far wrong with Tsingtao, although Tiger beer is also good.

Indian food, you want Cobra beer or Kingfisher, although kingfisher can be difficult to get hold of.

finally, with thai food, Singha is good, although quite strong.

it depends on what you call asian food ,to me it isindian ,bangladeshi and sri lankan. the best beer is cobra with kingfisher in second, both are brewed under license in uk, by wells and shepard neame respectively. if you want oriental food then tiger is a genuine import from singapore as is singha from thailand. the japanese beers kirin and asahi are also brewed under license by wells and shepard neame.
