If God(Jehovah)is the ONLY true God(John 17:3) than what kind of god is Jesus? Is he a true god or a false God?If he is a true God,then how is God the ONLY true God?Surely you don't think that Jesus is a false God?Please see 1 Timothy 3:16 in the King James Version.

Jesus is not THE true God at all but the begotton Son of the true God Jehovah. Jesus was the firstborn of all creation.
The term god also applies to a rulership who has authority on those who are under him.
2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) calls Satan a god of this world.
"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
It implies that Satan has influence on this world of mankind which is evident in the sad condition this world is that is alienated from the true God.
As a response to iwant_u2_wantme2000, I do have a KJV and a Catholic version of the Bible too. Using other Bibles is no problem in answering questions. Jehovah's Witnesses use other versions often in their door to door ministry as they meet and speak to people of all faiths.
-------------------------
In response to JC Redding [the questioner] Re:Additional details,
I do not know how you got your deduction from my above answer that you say that I claimed Satan was the true God. The Bible itself (KJV at your request) calls Satan the god of this world. Not that Satan is the True God.
There is and can be only one true God that is Jehovah God.
You asked the question from Jehovah's Witnesses and the return answers is satisfactory. We do not need to debate this further as each JW answer collaborates from the scriptures.

John 17:3:"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the ONLY TRUE GOD,and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent"(KJV)
This from the KJV shows even Jesus recognises His Heavenly Father to be the ONLY true God.
The Bible does not encourage us to worship Jesus. All worship belongs to Jehovah God.He alone is the only true God,the Sovereign of the Universe.
Again I suggest to you to do some personal research before you go badmouthing Witnesses.....
Isaac Newtown in his writings gave much attention to the doctrine of the Trinity. One of his most outstanding contributions to the Biblical Scholarship of the time was his work 'An Historical Account of Two Notible Corruptions of Scripture',first published in 1754.It reviewed all the textual evidence available from ancient sources on two Bible passages,at First John 5:7 and First Timothy 3:16.
In relation to his comments regarding 1Tim3:16,Newtown showed how,by a small alteration in the Greek text, the word "God" was inserted to make the phrase read "God was manifest in the flesh"
I suggest if you wish to use the KJV without searching for the truth of God's Word, that you leave Jehovahs Witnesses alone because they have the truth - you dont!

Many are referred to as gods in the Bible, including men and Satan. Christ is a mighty god, according to the old testament, but a mighty god receives their power and existence from an Almighty God. Look it up.
As for what the Apostle John wrote, he used four different Greek spellings for the word god. He never uses the same spelling in reference to The Word and to Almighty God. He does use the same spelling in reference to The Word, Satan, and men ask what? God or a god? Is Satan also God?

There is a difference between God (capital G) and A god (lower case g).
Jehovah is the only true God - creator of the the universe, ultimate authority over all, the Almighty.
Jesus was given the title of god as an indication of his rulership, power, position. He is not the Almighty. He is not God - he is also not a false god, because this power was granted to him directly by the Almighty.

Jesus is Jehovah God's first creation, his son. if you want to we will use the king james bible. Jesus said you seen me you seen the Father, he was saying that he was with Jehovah from the beginning, millions of years. and that he knows Jehovah real well. he came to earth to tell us about his Father Jehovah. when Jesus was baptized, Jehovah came down like a dove and said this is my son the beloved. Jesus said he cannot do anything without the Father in the heavens. even the disciples knew he was not Jehovah God. I also have the king james bible at home. but our bible is easy to use because it talks in language that we talk but we can use the king james bible

"Mighty" God and Lord = Jesus (Son of God)
Speaks of Jesus as "Mighty" and "Lord":
Pslams 50:1 (KJV) The mighty God, the LORD, hath spoken
The Difference between the father (God) and the son (a Lord):
1 Cor. 8:6 (KJV) - one God, the Father, of whom all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ
"Almighty" God the Creator= Jehovah (God the Father)
Exd 6:3 (KJV) And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by God "Almighty", but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
The Almighty God has no beginning but Mighty God has beginning (he was created by the Almighty God's own hands). --Isaiah 43:10; Colossians 1:15,16; Proverbs 8:22.

I am not JW but just like most folks I have had plenty of times to talk with them on my porch. Actually they don't believe about Jesus the same way Christians do and that is why no other Christian churches recognize JWs as Christian. They do not teach Jesus is a false God. They teach that Christianity is falsely claiming Christ is God Incarnate.

At John 17:3, "true" means "without peer" or "Supreme".
(Genesis 24:48) Jehovah ...led me in the true way
(Deuteronomy 32:4, ftn) God, true are his works
(Psalm 19:9) The judicial decisions of Jehovah are true
In a similar way, the bible calls Jehovah "the true Lord".
(Exodus 23:17) …the true Lord, Jehovah
(Exodus 34:23) …the true Lord, Jehovah, the God of Israel
(Isaiah 1:24) …the true Lord, Jehovah of armies, the Powerful One of Israel
(Isaiah 3:1) …the true Lord, Jehovah of armies
(Isaiah 10:16) …the true Lord, Jehovah of armies
(Isaiah 10:33) …the true Lord, Jehovah of armies
(Isaiah 19:4) …the true Lord, Jehovah of armies
Perhaps this concept must be spoon-fed to trinitarians...
Jehovah is the only true God.
Jehovah is the only God without peer.
Jehovah is the only Supreme God.
Jehovah is the true Lord.
Jehovah is the Lord without peer.
Jehovah is the only Supreme Lord.
Other gods are not necessarily "false", but are NOT peers of Jehovah's godship.
Other lords are not necessarily "false", but are NOT peers of Jehovah's lordship.
(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” there is actually to us one God the Father
Referring to Jehovah as 'the only true God' simply emphasizes that no other gods can be compared with Almighty Jehovah. Jehovah God has no peers; no other gods can hope to compete with Him. Jesus, while a god, is not a direct peer of Jehovah; Jesus is less powerful than Jehovah.
(Philippians 2:5-7) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God’s form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. No, but he emptied himself and took a slave’s form
Incidentally, even a cursory look at John 17:3 explains that Jehovah is a distinct person from Jesus. Please read it again and ask honestly: Does that Scripture tend to reinforce or tend to REFUTE the notion that Jesus the Son is the same person as the God the Father?
(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.
Other Scriptures which tend to indicate that Jesus is distinct from Jehovah...
(Romans 8:3,11) God, by sending HIS OWN SON in the likeness of sinful flesh... [God the Father] will also make your mortal bodies alive [caps added]
(Romans 8:31,32) God is for us, who will be against us? He who did not even spare HIS OWN SON but delivered him up for us all
(John 3:16,17) God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son... For God sent forth his Son
(Ephesians 1:3,6,7) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ... [God] kindly conferred upon us by means of his loved one. By means of him we have the release by ransom through the blood of that one
(1 John 1:5,7) God is light... the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
