On the Daytona Prototype cars i seen that some of their number plates on the side actually lit up like a neon light. In pictures they look like reflective vinyl graphics, but when one of them came in for a driver change, they shut the car down, and when they turned they electronics on, you seen the number flicker and turn on like a light. What or how do you think this is made. I'd like to run one my kart for night races, not for funtionality because the whole track is lit up, but simply because it looks awesome. Some of the Porsche Gt cars were also running them. Anyone know where to get something like that? Thanks!

I really do believe that they are actually lights, like led's or neon..... and not reflective vinyl...i've seen them turned off and on in the pits!

I believe the panels are the same as the Timex Indiglo watch faces found on their line of wristwatches. If I remember correctly, Aston Martin have or had Timex as one of their main sponsors a while back and that's why the panels were first seen on their DB9. I think it's a form of Electroluminescent device is what I'm getting at.

I first started seeing those lighted numbers on AMLS cars a few years ago. They not only look cool, they serve a function as well. Not so much at DAYTONA-but really DARK tracks like LE MANS,the lights allow the corner workers and course marshals to tell the numbers of the cars to race control.I think the lights are different colors,to denote the different classes of cars.GT cars being a different color than the PROTOTYPES.But to answer your Q.--I have no idea where to buy them.E mail GANASSI and ask them where you buy them.

Chris to be honest I believe that that they are just reflective stickers at least the one that were on the Porsches... I have some amazing pictures of that even the Night pictures are really the best

I think they are just like reflector numbers and the lights make them look that way Good Luck:)
