Hello everybody!

What's a cheap gift I can buy for a friend who's moving into an apartment this Friday? I'm thinking a dollarstore gift, wrapped in cheap wrapping and paper and delivered to his place Friday evening.

What do you think is a good cheap gift for a friend of a few years? I don't know what to get him... I was thinking that alternatively I'd bake him some cookies or something edible, but that's just me; what about you?

Thanks a bunch,

Av

Cookies are a good housewarming gift! Buy a cheap tin at Walmart, and fill it. Or do fudge or candy, his favorite, of course.
Booze is always a good one, too, if he drinks, and you are of age to buy it. If he is a beer kind of guy, a six-pack of his favorite. Same for wine, or liquor. Stick a bow on them, and you have a cheap gift.
A cheap tool set, some kitchen utensils in a box[a whisk, measuring cups, measure spoons], check out the dollar store, and Walmart, if they have a sale.
Bar ware is cool, a wine bottle opener, shot glass, bar rag, check out the package liquor store for ideas and prices, then go someplace cheap to buy them. also check out cheap bar glasses at the discount department store. I bought Libby glass ware for my house, it's cheap. I even like the beer mugs I bought, I would have chosen them over the expensive ones.
A theme gift package, like a bottle of tequilla, the salt, and the bottle of mixer for margaritas.
Cheap house plant sounded good, too. One of those kitchen towel sets, they come with a towel, dish rag and a potholder, all in one package, and they are cheap.

A pretty scented candle always works.... something to use in the new house. They are relatively inexpensive and do a lot to add a little something to a new home. You could always decorate it yourself.. adding a little bow here, or some pressed flowers into the actual candle sides. Even a pretty dish to sit the candle on, those are pretty inexpensive items and can be found just about anywhere, it's the thought that counts :-)

how about a cheap little house plant from walmart, something low maintenance like a cactus or an aloe would be cool. a friend of mine went to walmart when i moved and bought me a fish and plant combo (the fish lived in the base and ate the crap off the plant) which was pretty thoughtful and only cost about 7$ or so.

Go to Walmart, buy a wall clock that will cost $10.00 or less. Don't do the dollar store.

If you think enough of the friend to buy a gift, don't do the lowest cheapest thing. It might come back to haunt you.

Does he drink coffee? Different kinds of coffees, bake those cookies. A small bunch of pretty flowers in a pretty vase.

You reap what you sow!!

Better still, show up, eat all the food, sit on the couch while they are moving things, put your feet up, listen to your iPod and sing really loudly and off tune. Thats what a cheap friend will do!

I think the idea of cookies is great! It's personal and everyone loves home-made cookies. And it shows that you made an effort for him.

I must have given my friend either a wall clock or a door mat saying welcome.
