I'm going to NYC for my 1st time on March 15th, and I know its supposed to be cold, but I don't know how cold. What's the average temperature? What type of clothes should I take?

Last night that i talked to my family in NY, i was told they had snow and minus 0 Celsius degrees. This year was not as cold in NY, so March is some days cold and some others are like spring. Take warm clothes with you, but some spring, lighter clothing as well. Last week for instance they had something about 10-15 C degrees. This one is cold. So to be sure curry clothing for both winter and spring and you won't have any problems. A couple of days before departing make sure you check out Yahoo!Weather and get a weekly forecast. Have fun, NY is perfect no matter what.

Right now it's 18 degrees and will only get up to about freezing or slightly above that (34 degrees) later this afternoon. When you get there next week, in mid-March, it's expected to be somewhat warmer, mainly in the 30's and 40's but that's still cold. It may still snow some and will most likely rain.

So bring warm clothes: sweaters, heavy jackets, overcoats, hats, gloves, scarves, raincoats...Also: umbrellas, overshoes, boots....

The weather will be in flux. This weekend, it is going to be 60 degrees. and in the 50s all week. But they saying goes, March roars in like a like and our like a lamb. So for another week expect anything from 60 degrees to 30 and from snow to rain to wind. But as we enter April, expect 40-60 with lots of rain. (april showers....). Bring an umbrella no matter what. You dont want to pay $5 for a crappy one on the street here!
