Simple. A christian is a FOLLOWER OF CHRIST. And a follower of Christ means to live by the Word of God (Bible) and Follow it. To die to self and take up our cross daily.

It means that a person is:
1. Forgiven. They asked God for forgiveness of their sins, and confessed that they believe Jesus is/was the Son of God.
2. Following the straight and narrow path. The New Testament lays out the foundation for how to be a Christian. A Christian is supposed to be loving, kind, generous, reasonable, and humble. A Christian is not supposed to engage in sexual immorality, drunkenness, lying, stealing, or murder, among many other things.
I think that basically covers it. A Christian is simply supposed to try to be like Jesus Christ.

The term actually refers to those who were bought with a price (Jesus's life) by God and chose to become His children. They, in turn, give their lives to Him, and live for Him, making Him their God, in order that they might have life, love, and joy eternal, and so that they may bring this message of good news to all the world. (Better than winning the lottery!)
These people try to live their lives here on earth following Jesus Christ's example, hence they were dubbed "Christians". To me, that is basically what the word means. However, I realize that many people want to try to turn this on its edge and make this life into a religion (which cannot be done) and therefore those who follow this religion might be called "Christians" even though they are at all Christians.

A Christian by deed, and not just by name. It could be somewhat burdensome at times, but i press on, like Paul mentioned in the Bible.
edit: i concur with Encouragement. there're too many things in the Bible to list out here, to me it means striving and doing my best to follow the Word, and not just one in name and do things that even non-christians wont think appropriate of.

It means someone who has stopped enquiring about Life, and accepts what some other people tell them. It's being part of a religion which has killed and maimed more people in the last millennium than any other unnatural cause. I accept that each of us has a choice, and I choose not to be a Christian.

first of all, being forgiven, saved and given mercy which I do not deserve- and then"being a Christian" means being crucified with Him, and becoming more like Him every day.

A confuse person who is following doctrined messages of Bible because of his/her ignorance. Because there are approximately 73 versions of Bible by name Gospel of John, Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Matthew, Gospel of Luke, Gospel of Paul, Old and New testimont and many more but where is Gospel of Jesus Christ. Where is true message of Almighty God given by his messenger Jesus Christ.
