well Im an Irish woman but can still answer better than any English one you racist!
Better understanding of rhythm - well you either naturally got it or you dont! It should come naturally to a person - its not really something you can force but all I could suggest is that you find some fly dancer in a club and imitate them - or alternatively go to dance classes - they might be able to help you a bit!

pamela o was a bit harse and don't believe very helpful either after putting that comment in prior to advice. let yourself relax/move your hips/listen to the music. it will come with time and practice. You can learn anything if you put enough time into it. If dance classes help and build up your confidence then do that.good luck

Listen to the base in the music and keep your movements in time with that not against it or out of count with it.
Better still go to dance classes.

I can dance but I can't play the drums - I can hold a beat for five minutes and then I lose it!
