In Pakistan, Iran , Afghanistan, S.Arabia, …etc women are oppressed and killed because they have no equal right as men !!!!
open letter from the International Campaign in Defence of Women’s Rights in Iran
No to Sexual Apartheid in Iran!
Shari’a law has ruined the lives of women in Iran. You might ask how?
• Do you know in Iran women are stoned to death for having sexual relations outside marriage?
• Do you know women do not have the right to choose their clothes? It is common knowledge that in Iran, the veil is compulsory and women who defy it are severely punished, arrested or flogged in public?
• Do you know that women and men are forced to be segregated in public?
• Do you know that many jobs are closed to women because of their gender?
• Do you know that women have to get written permission from their husbands or male guardians in order to get a job, study or travel?
• Do you know that women do not have the right to divorce and in the event of divorce they do not have the right of custody of their children?
The list is endless. In one word, sexual apartheid rules in Iran under Islamic Shari’a law.
You might find these facts hard to believe. It is unfortunately the bitter truth for millions of women in Iran. Parallel to this devastating situation, there is a strong movement for a better humane life in Iran. Women in Iran have managed to force their way into all aspects of the society including education. There is a strong movement against the veil and all anti women laws. The struggle against sexual apartheid is visible as a strong and radical movement in Iran.

In answer to the first question, Nothing!
Unless you're brave enough to risk your life for the Cause!
Yes, everybody knows about Iran. Did you ever stop to think how much worse it is now in Afghanistan? And in Iraq? And, for that matter in all the Countries where Islam holds sway?
I wonder if Lost and Found knows that she is referring to the PR videos and that homosexuals have been hung, recently, in Iran?
Cheers!

All males in these countries should be made to undergo a sex-change operation. Then they've got to live their lives as women under the Sharia Law.
Well, that would be impossible of course, but I think it should start with the separation of religion and government/law/politics. Obviously the two don't go together, as a Religion may be far too extremist and politics, law and similar areas must be dealt with objectively rather than subjectively. Just because some disgusting man believes a woman should or should not do certain things it doesn't mean that indeed, the woman should or should not. Law makers, judges always have to make their decisions based on facts objectively in order to make a good and ifnormed decision.

You do realize the US's invasion did the same thing to Iraq, don't you? Their new constitution has Sharia law as the top law of the land. Iran was once a democracy until the US/UK help with an overthrow a few decades back. Then the US won't do anything about the women's rights abuses in Saudi either.
The best solution for this problem is for other nations to quit interferring for their own gains.

Some of what you are saying is misinterpreted as Islam and missleading but sadly most of it is true. (under tha law there i mean)
I am a muslim but i personally believe that there should be a limit as to how much of religion is allowed to exist in law. Religion aside form being subjective is interpreted deifferently by everyone and often distorted through time. Islam emerged in an extreamly male dominated society and alot of the rules are actually unislamic. Or made up under the religous guidance and interpretation of men who purposely distort the true meaning of the holy scriptures and the prophets message. the law should be based on human rights, dignity and justice. it should reflect principles neccessary to make the most productive and functional society not the most controling one.
I think the most important thing to make women aware of the injustices against them. many think it is religous fact. Also women need to be educated.
The best way to control someone is to make them dependant on you as most of these women are. They need to fight for the right to work and education, only then will they be able to support themselves and break free from the oppression.

Promote education in the masses particularly women and make efforts for the educated masses to understand religion. To start with, YOU should get to know what is in the Quran and what Islam is all about. Sadly, muslims today do not depict Islam.

Ive seen documentaries on men and women working in Iran in IT companies.
The kind of oppression women receive in other parts of the world is still depressing.
I cannot defend Saudi Arabian segregation laws, for Ive seen with my own eyes how people find ways to bypass those laws and still live the life they want.
Homosexuality is rampant in Saudi, so is in Iran.
But your descriptions are not informed enough.
And dont make superficial judgements based on a few papers or TV series.

did you know that almost all of the things you clam where practiced by the christian church.
it took a feminist movement in the united states before we figured it out.
In New England, the Puritan settlers brought their strong religious values with them to the New World, which dictated that the wife be subordinate to her husband and dedicate herself to rearing God-fearing children to the best of her ability.
thumbs down or not, it's true.
