The sole purpose of the messiah is to bring peace on earth. If you believe we now have peace on earth for all mankind, then Jesus is your messiah. If not, you will have to wait for his return to find out for sure.

The trinity is a difficult thing to understand. When they say that God, Jesus and holy spirit are one, I don't think they mean that he is God himself, but that he was made in the image of God. The three are like an egg, three parts that make up one whole (shell, white and yolk). Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (his words). Why would you not want to worship and thank and praise someone that is your saviour, he is the one who enables us to communicate with God. I think its just about learning a little more about the facts that will help people to understand the logic of it all. Brilliant question by the way!

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are ONE. Before He came to earth as a human, Jesus WAS.
(John 8:58)
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"
(Isaiah 9:6)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
(John 1:1-5,14)
The Word Became Flesh (Jesus): In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. … The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 14:9-11)
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
(John 20:30-31)
Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
(1 John 4:15)
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.
(John 14:6)
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Well it makes a big difference if he is "just" the Messiah or God himself. Besides, Christ is called Mighty God in Isaiah 9:6 But I don't think it is an absolutely crucial doctrine. If you believe Christ is the Messiah, I think that is good enough. If you think he is God himself manifested in the flesh, then that is good too. But claiming he is a mere moral teacher goes against everything.

The difference is that if you believe Jesus is God then you are a Christian. If you don't believe he is then you are something else.
Kind of odd to say he is Messiah without saying he is God... doesn't make sense with Jewish theology. Jesus is both God and Messiah OR not either one. You could say he is a prophet or a good teacher, but I don't think you can really say he is the Messiah without agreeing he is God.

Ooo, you're gonna get lots of warnings from Christians that if you don't believe Jesus is God, that you'll go to hell.
Baloney.
Jesus is not God, but he was definitely Messiah. You are 100% correct in your thinking. You can address your prayers to Jesus, though, because he is the link between man and God. God is so vast, so huge, so so so so so much, that we're incapable of fathoming God, He is unknowable. Ah, but God sends His Messengers, His Messiahs, to be the link for us, the link between man and God. So yes, worship God, and address your prayers to Jesus, that's what he is for. He is the LINK.
Wow, I'm IMPRESSED!!! It's rare to see a Christian who's figured this out, way to go!!!

Jesus claimed to be one with His Father. He also said that if you don't believe that He is...you'll die in your sins. If Jesus is the Messiah, would He have lied? I doubt it. So, if Jesus is the Messiah and He claimed to be one with the Father & said that we should honor the Son just as we honor the Father...why shouldn't we obey the Messiah and do just that?

The problem with Christianity is really simple.
God is the King.
He is the ruler of all.
Have you ever seen a King SHARE his power with ANYONE??
Kings, sit on thrones and do not share their power.
They leave heirs to their thrones, but God does not need an heir, nor does He need a son.
We, also do not need mediums between us and God. Simply because if you have a need, you go straight to the King.
Not waste time asking those around him.

Even an atheist like myself knows that no religion on earth claims Jesus is God.
Jesus was supposed to be the son of god, at least according to some novel written centuries ago.
