red is as does

This used to be the norm. During the past couple of decades some trucks are now painted with a bright yellow-green which is supposed to be more visible, especially in non-rural areas.

There have been many psychological studies done on peoples reactions to red and many people have a tendency to ignore it. This ties into decades of conditioning with red as a warning color in stoplights and signage.

These types of color changes have permeated other service type industries as well. City or town service trucks used to be lighter colors with the city or town logos for identification; and now may are painted a bright yellow-orange which is similar to the color of the lines in the center of the road.

All of this has been done in hopes that it will make the average person more aware of service and emergency vehicles, as the red color does not stand out as it used to.
