There isn't much interest in antique furniture just now - it doesn't seem to be fashionable. Of course, there's always a market for really super stuff, but your chaise lonue may not fall into the Sotheby's category. As already stated, an auctioneer might be the best bet; at least you will get a realistic view of what it might fetch, rather than an antique dealer saying "You should insure it for £1,000. Oh, want to sell it, do you? Well, I'll give you £300"
