Ok, I'm having dull pains in the left side of my abdomen. I haven't had really regular bowel movements the past week. So I thought it was constipation. Last night, I had a pretty good bought of diarreha. Tonight, I am still having pain in my left side. I also sometimes hear gurgle sounds from the area. Any ideas?

Another possibility is that from having so much extra interior pressure which was released quickly it could just be the muscles trying to get back to normal. Future info - work your way up to 40-50grams of dietary fiber per day with lots of water to prevent this. (the water mixed with the fiber keeps one regular)

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Diarrhea sometimes accompanies constipation.....meaning that the only thing able to pass the blockage is water..... so it could be constipation....or it could be a bowel obstruction....
There are any number pf reasons why you're having pain....but here is one that isn't thought about very often......so you should probably seek a Dr.s advice... Appendix....yes I know It is usually associated with pain in the Right side, but it has been know to happen on very rare occasion the to appendix happens to be on the Left side....mind you it doesn't happen often but it is a possibility.

Make an appointment with a doctor who practices internal medicine.

It could be IBS (I hear that far too often for everyone to have it though), it may have been food poisoning, or it might be nothing at all. The only way to be sure is to have yourself checked out though with a proper physical exam and lab tests.

It might be related to your kidney. Just drink lots and lots of water. But yes make sure you consult a doctor.
