Now your talking old school as there is a difference between a barber and hairdresser .A barber old school style provides hot towel service for shaving ,brill creams,and has a different style of cuts to suit the gentleman not the lady and in an old school barber shop has an arrangement of cut throat razors and smoking implaments for the gentleman .Want the best way to learn old school hair cutting is to find an old man who's a barber as the older the barber the more professional inthe barber shop.Good luck ,.Go to little italy great barbers there.

For barber training you would choose the rate SH and then go to barber school. No personal trainers.

SH (ship's serviceman) is going away and will be merging with a few other ratings before too long. It will be sea duty only, as the shore side will be civilianized. and you could end up doing laundry instead of cutting hair. There are no NECs in HM for a personal Trainer, although you could be a Physical Therapist.

however, getting that particular NEC will be difficult. It isn't open to first termers

I'm sure you could get the training in the navy. Just be prepared in the milatary it's more hands on and learn as you go. Meaning that they show you basic basics and you go. As with a personal you get more attention.
