I'm not in surgery, but I'm in ICU and ER for the last 15+ years. I agree that what you do is very difficult and demanding. You are constantly on you feet for hours at a time without a break. Any wrong move could cost someone their life. So why do you do it? Because you are a loving, caring individual who went into medicine to help others. That's why. At the end of those excruciating days, you know that you helped to make someones life a little bit better. What you need is a respite. Take some time off to take care of your soul. Go to the lake. Get a massage. Visit friends out of town. Or my favorite, go stand on the edge of the Grand Canyon and view what GOD has created. Just be good to yourself for a week and recharge your batteries. Only then will you be able to carry on with the work that you chose to do. Good luck and GOD bless your healing hands.
