Go to this link http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ and type in the station you are travelling From and where you are travelling To along with the dates and times of travel for outward and return journey. When the details come up, near the bottom there is a box that says CHECK FARES click on this and it will give you the price of single and return fares. A single fare starts at £12.80 and return fares start at £12.90
