every time I start my computer I get a New Hardware Found pop-up. I have not installed any new hardware for at least six months now. I have tried everything I can think of and am quietly going insane. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY!!!!!! Any ideas please.

Thanks for all answers so far BUT. Have clicked to tell it not come back. Also, no yellow markers in device manager.

these 2 above are right about it, but won't help much for quick fix. Go to Hardward, Device Manager, right click on any time that has the yellow question or exclamation mark, select Disable. This should stop that annoying message for ever.

Now, for the perm quick. What is that yellow mark about? Whatever must be went wrong. Is your computer still running fine? No problem? Look at that yellow mark, can you tell what is it? Try to see if you can find a driver for it. Before you disable it, right click that item, click Uninstall, this item will be disappeared, then click anywhere on the list, right click, Scan for new hardware, this should be reappear again, asking you to install it, can you reinstall it? If you can live w/o it, then just disable it for good.

It sounds as if a piece of hardware got uninstalled somehow, right click on "My Computer" got "Properties" select the "Hardware" tab and look at your "Device Manager" if there is an item in there with an exclamation mark, that is where the problem lies.

The found new hardware wizard will keep appearing if you haven't installed any drivers for a device, if you keep clicking cancel it will appear next time you boot windows.
What you need to do is install drivers for the device it says it's found, that should get rid of it

It'll keep showing up until you tell it not to.

Once windows fails to find an appropriate driver you have the option to no longer attempt to install the device......If you ever decide to change your mind and get it working you can use the scan for hardware wizzard
