Heres a simple craft as long as you don't mind the mess. I have done this with 6 kids at a time (ranging in age from 2 to 5). http://www.dltk-teach.com/rhymes/marymary/handprint_tulips.htm

Heres some St. patricks day crafts.

I'm a playgroup leader too, and we had a lot of fun at a playgroup yesterday! The hostess made an edible Easter basket for the kids out of shredded wheat and marsh-mellows, then she placed some chocolate eggs in them. The kids loved that snack!

As a craft, she took a note card, took various stamp pads of different colors and asked all the kids to put their little finger prints on the card. Each finger print was an "egg" - she would ask for two blue eggs, two yellow, one purple, etc., until she reached ten eggs. Then the kids (littler ones with Mom's help) put legs, eyes, nose and a mouth on each "egg." It was a great coloring and counting game and they kids loved it!! My son wouldn't let go of his egg note card or his shredded wheat birds nest.

Good luck!
