I know the Orthodox, mainline Protestant, and Roman Catholic churches, which represent the majority of Christians worldwide, have no tradition of such a teaching and reject the doctrine.

So I was wondering who does believe in it? If you are willing, please also tell us which christian denomination you belong to and the country you live in.

and as a subquestion: why do you think the others reject the rapture thing?

towelie: again, the majority of christians rejects the doctrine. So apparently it is not as obvious as you seem to think.

You'll have to forgive Towlie....he sees all kinds of things in scripture when he gets a couple bong-hits of the holy-spirit in him, if you catch my drift (he's a pot smoker, and therefore, can be ignored, in good conscience). I think rapture is BS.

Matthew 24:40-41.
1 Thessalonians 4:17.
Revelation 3:10.
Its there for all to see. Seems pretty clear to me. Have you read the verses?
Christ cannot be any clearer than in the Matthew verses.
I cannot speak for all Christians, but it IS there, at the beginning of Christs return.
And for anyone who says I'm stoned, YOU'RE A TOWEL!
I actually think Towelie is funny. That may have been me alright, but 15 years ago.

I am a spiritual person with no denomination. I believe in God, Jesus and the teachings of the bible. I do not think everything Jesus said are literal, I think a lot of His teachings were as examples to teach us why we should be or do certain things. As far as the Rapture, I believe it will happen, it is in Revelations. I believe it as an event that will carry our souls to God, that we will be returned to our creator and will not be in human form, no bodies. Glorified bodies is what the bible says which I believe is a changed form. Not something that can be seen but a transformation, as in the soul being returned to where it came from. That is my opinion only. The poster above me is taking every evil thing that is in the bible for some odd reason....yes, man is evil, since the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed God by partaking of the fruit of knowledge which is the only thing he asked of them, man is disobedient and has been full of evil and hatred since that time, the chose to defy God instead of live in paradise. Aren't we all somewhat like that. We are all born with free will which is what that knowledge gave us, the choice between good and evil. We have it in us. Some more than others because we are the products of our fathers and mothers and their sins are passed on to us. As time goes on some families are so full of sin that they are depraved. Some families are more good because their forefathers were good and chose good and they inherited that. So, when you come from a family with a lot of sin, you really have to become apart to get away from it, to disregard it. It is a battle over your soul. The Good and the evil are always at odds and take every opportunity to pull you one way or the other. So, the evil in the world, mostly greed will be the downfall of man. The oil and the pharmaceutical companies and corporate America are robbing the earth of all the stored resource the earth has. God put enough of everything here for all of us to live but the greed of a few will use it up and the rest will suffer right along with them when it is all gone.

I don't. I believe that Jesus will come back and His own will go to be with Him, but I don't think it will happen 7 years before the end of the world. Basically, the Left Behind books are entertaining and have a lot of scripture usage, but are just a theory. (And they're fiction, anyway!)

I am a Christian who doesn't have a church denomination. do read the bible and am convinced there will soon be a rapture------i think most do not believe because 1st of all it is not referred to as a rapture------that word rapture in not in the bible. ---it's not in the new testament---and it's not in the old testament---but the event is spoken of in at least 4 places i have studied. call it the rapture or call it whatever you want to but one day soon quite a few so called 'wild-eyed-bible-banging-christians'---will suddenly disappear without a trace. Many teachers of false doctrines and those who are so luke warm they only 'preach' feel-good doctrines shy away from this event as well as many other things that might make their congregation uncomfortable.-------i'd like to mention there exists at this time people in high places who are in league with satan and know this event is about to occur and have at this time fabricated plans to explain our disappearance.-----HINT--------We "HAVE NOT" been abducted by aliens!

Yes this is a valid doctrine. The words "caught up" in Latin is translated rapture.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I'm Born-Again and am of the Pentecostal belief that the true church of Christ is not made up of the structured organized religious churches, but those who have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. I believe in the term of " being caught up with Christ in the clouds" and it is easier to use the word "rapture" than saying " to be caught up with Christ in the clouds" every-time I talk about it.
