You will see some religious folks fervently claim that the big bang never happened, despite the evidence, and others welcome it as support for their idea of creation. Why such a dramatic difference, even between people of the same religion?

what I really don't understand is why religious people never embrace the possibility of God creating the Big Bang, and evolution being controled by God... and most of all, the possibility that evolution being the actual "creating of man" just like the Bible says... anyways, to answer your question, people are different, their ways of thinking are different, but most of all, the majority of them DON'T ACTUALLY THINK at all! They just accept an old idea their grandma told them and that's that. Thinking otherwise would be (for them) a sacrilege!

I would have thought that the answer is obvious. It is not really a difference but an interpretation. On the one hand you have the ones that believe in the details explicitly as the truth despite contrary evidence, and then you have the ones that because of the evidence look at the word of the bible symbolically. So a day in creation could be billions of years long. He created the big bang. There is a shift in gods position. He gets his nose out of sticky situations like evolution, geology, astronomy etc and does not loose face simply by becoming the driving force. He is modern more powerful (in a way he has evidence: look at what I have created) and he is less meddling.

Because the first kind, the people who reject it, do not fully understand the concept of the theory. Science might be able to track the source of space, time and matter, but they cannot discover things that are supernatural simply because a supernatural entity is not confined by the laws of nature. A supreme being does not need physcal components because it is not made of physical matter, but spiritual. A supreme being does not need to be "created" because it is already infinite, and you cannot have anything greater than Infinite. Infinity + 1 = the same number you began with - Infinity. Thus a Supreme Being is not bound by either space, time, or matter.

We created the big bang..

If in 200,000 years time it is possible (even impossible to not imagine) us as humans to have the capability to create a big bang (scientist are worried about this scenario when experimenting with particle accellerators now btw).

Taken one step further - if humans possess the capability to do it - couldn't they have done it (and we are the result)?

There you go. One theory that has evidence (human technological progress in the last 100 years has been beyond anything that could ever be imagined) and has actual believability. and is 5000 times more likely than any religion.

i believe some people are taught that anything that goes against what is said in their book ... word for word .. is wrong
so despite any evidence being presented to them of something opposing that is ignored or thought of as blasphemous
to acknowledge it would draw up questions about their beliefs
to question your beliefs would show lack of faith ...
so ignorance is bless in these cases
however some people can manage to keep their faith and belief .... and add information to it rather than think they have to dismiss their beliefs in order to accept something else

When logic prevails, their beliefs have to fit around it.

Some ppl on the other hand, are still able to somehow deny the evidence, in spite of it all.

heheh thats funny. im compeletly deciated to the lord and it doesn't bother me at all. i accept that it happen. I don't believe in evolution because it came from one man's concept there is no proof to stated his theory.
its probably because some people are thinking "It's not in the bible!" yep that's it. they think whatever it's not in the bible. its not true. im perfectly right on this one.

Religion and gods that go with it are just imaginary. you can imagine anything you want. Real science deal with reality two separate things
