I am trying to keep track of my calorie intake to get into a really healthy routine and pick out areas i could cut back on.

My main problem seems to be my fruit intake. If I have an apple, bananna, satsumma, maybe some grapes etc then I am taking in huge amounts of calories. Should i cut back on these and if so how can I get the good nutrients.

Im not eating chocolate, crisps or sweets and have pretty healthy meals eg small amounts of pasta, whole grain stuff but still am going over my recomended calorie amount.

Please help i need healthy diet advice

i am using a calorie counting website and in fruit there is sometimes over 100 calories so I know what im taking in.

I certainly dont want to add honey to apple as it is sweet enough and honey is full of sugar!!!

Hi there,
I know exactly how you feel. It's confusing but most fruits are actually negative calorie foods, i.e. the take more calories to digest them because of their high fibre content than the amount of calories in the fruit to begin with. You are right though in steering clear of banana, grapes(sultanas have more than fresh) , cherries and citrus fruits because these hav the highest carb and calorie content. Bananas in the morning can help to regulate your metabolism because it's giving your body the carb boost in the morning, therefore waking up your body and kick starting your metabolism.
The rest of your diet seems good. Everyone says that everything in small amounts is good, and this goes for fruit too. It sounds amazing but too much fruit can actually cause you to have internal probs as well as weight gain.
Melons(watermelon and cantaloupe), strawberries, blueberries, any other type of berry, are all great fruits to eat if on a calorie controlled diet.
A little extra info:An average apple has only 40 calories in it. These are ALL negative meaning that you can eat as many apples as you like and you won't gain weight
NB:Dried fruit is great in small, unsweetened quantities. It's high in calories because you eat more fruit dried than if it was fresh because the water that fills you up has been removed.

First have you worked out how many calories your body needs to consume each day as a base rate.
Use this site to find that out - http://www.thecolumn.org/how-many-calories-do-i-need.asp
It told me I needed 1600
I try to stay away from banana's and have satsummas and kiwi and then focus more on vegetables
On an average day I have
bowl cereal with skimmed milk and small glass OJ
apple
salad - lettuce, cucmber, tomato, onion, mushrooms, slice of beef dry fried and sliced
2 slices of weight watchers bread
covent garden tomato soup
turkey curry with mushrooms and onion and rice noodles
fruit yogurt
glass of wine if I feel like it
I've been loosing on average 2lb a week

You could also try increasing your exercise to compensate - weight watchers do a bonus point system for exercise where you can add extra food if you do enough exercise.

I hope this helps good luck and keep healthy

There are hardly calories in fruit darling, but if you are still worried, try eating melon, apples, strawberries and blue berries. Leave oranges and cherries for isntance alone since they are relatively (RELATIVELY) high in calories.
Good tip: apple with a little honey. Delicious. I really don't think the fruit is the problem. How many calories are you trying to take in a day?

I know what you mean, if I eat too much fruit I put weight on. Try eating carrotts instead, they take longer to eat. Also try vegetable soup whenever you need a snack. I find snacking on veg rather than fruit really makes a difference.

you're diet must be very restricted if eating fruit can push you over your limit.
if you are really concerned try eating raw vegetables instead as they have less sugars.
I would recommend you join weight watchers for a healthy eating plan - crash dieting is very bad for you!
