we should hold everyone accountable for his her own actions right or wrong our country claims were number1 and equality and justice for all we go after bad guys around the world but fail to punish those in our own country espcially those who are to uphold the laws of our land. where is the justice in that and how does that look to other countries. and to the peolple of our country. this was a gross injustice to this girl and she fight it legally for if they get away with it this time whats gonna happen next they should have never touched her except to keep her from hurting herself during her seizure my god what was the officer thinking will they do it again to someone else with worse damage to that person

1. The female in question had commited a criminal offence and was resisting arrest. Now, I know it's great to shout down the police when you 'think' they've done something wrong, but how about if your car had been damaged by a white male yob, and the police had to use force on him to arrest him as he was kicking off in a disorderly, violent, aggressive, drunken stupor? I guess there would be far less people moaning - well lets have a sense of equality shall we? It is one rule for everyone - the police will use force where necessary.
2. It is a perfectly legitimate form of defence to throw a clenched fist towards someone and this is taught to trainee officers. The police officer who did so is not attempting to hide the fact in any way whatsoever. He is perfectly within his rights to use this level of force if he thinks it necessary. I imagine that those of you who are not police officers would be able to control all the people officers have to deal with nowadays with a few stern words and no force whatsoever? Dream on.
3. CCTV is misleading. That said, the officer has stated that yes, he did hit her. The force have stated that they are happy with the actions he took. It's funny how she only decides that she can make a complaint out of this after her solicitor gets hold of the cctv - she doesn't even remember what happened, apparently.
4. I sometimes wonder why any person would want to join the police. If you're not moaning at police driving standards when using blue lights, you're moaning about the level of force. We can't win. I just wish people would sometimes consider how exactly they would like the service run, because clearly nothing done by the police is ever good enough. Perhaps if we refuse to ever enter into any situation where conflict might arise, we leave the drunks to roam the streets until they're sober and sensible, we deal with those with guns/knives only once they have decided to put the gun/knife down, we attend every job at 30mph in rush hour traffic, we don't act on any terrorism intelligence in case we get it wrong (depsite the fact that 99% of the time it's right - you hear about the 1% that's not).... I could go on as the moans from the public are endless. Trust me - for the scrutiny and criticism we get, most officers would feel a whole lot safer if the examples above were true. In your day job, what's the worse that can happen if you mess up? Think about it - officers find themselves risking their life, freedom etc. every time they act.
Show some support, wait to hear the proper facts and stop jumping on the media band wagon.
And to the person who claims that the police should have used 'pepper' spray... your knowledge of the subject is clearly imense. Police in the UK do not use pepper spray, cannot use any form of incapacitant spray at such close proximity as it could have potentially blinded her, and should not use it to remove someone's arm from their own - which is why the officer hit her in the first place. Everyone's an expert when it comes to criticism based on media excitement, eh?

Once again the Police do something that has been manipulated to look like wrongdoing by the defence in this case and the media fall for it hook line and sinker. When will people like you open your eyes to the fact that the media brainwash you and deliberately distort the truth to make things look worse than they actually are. Police Officers face a daily war in the streets against the low life kind of scum Toni Comer is but when they do anything to try and curb that behaviour everyone not on the job is suddenly an expert in law enforcement and knows precisely how that situation should have been dealt with.
You say the Officer should be prosecuted but for what? He is currently being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, if he has breached accepted procedure then yes formal charges may be applied. PC Mulhall was being assaulted by Toni Cromer, she was holding on to his nuggets, so doesn't PC Mulhall have a right to defend himself and stop the assualt? Also, ask yourself this - how much excessive force did he use? Clearly if it took five strikes to get her to release her grip it wasn't force enough force to make her let go after the first hit. So who was showing restraint? So applying your standards shouldn't Toni Cromer be prosecuted for Assault on Police? You make her out to be some modern day Robin Hood but she is no angel and shown that she has a much class as school on Saturdays, ie: none!
People like you make me sick. Police Officers put their lives on the line daily because they want to better their communities, yes they are members of the public also, and all you can do is sit back and judge and say from the comfort of your living room how the police should react to violent situations. What do you do to improve society with your high and mighty ideals?

Really refreshing to see the sensible people supporting the police I have looked at this question asked on this site by a number of people and by far the majority are behind the police a real triumph over the uneducated bigoted ones out there who voice dramatic opinions with no real knowledge or common sense whatsoever

While I feel there is a significant minority of police who do abuse their power, the CCTV shows only part of the officers' dealings with Toni Comer. It appears she had already behaved violently, hence the summoning of police to eject her from the night club. She had previously required restraint and it appears that her behaviour merely caused Anthony Mulhall to go a little over the top.
I do not think that Toni Comer is England's Rodney King.

Oh shut up, go out yourself and be threatened daily, and have these idiots cause grief to a normal evening out. Next you'll be agreeing with carrying weapons 'just in case', your the type that should be put away, not those who are self respecting non violent type. Go put your head in the sand.

In answer to the question.....Yes i feel the Police Officer was justified. Ms Comer was drunk, resisting arrest and demonstrating violent behaviour towards the officer. Although the officer did through punches these were delivered to her arm in order for him to administer handcuffs.
I dont believe that the policeman left work that day in order to try to beat up a woman in a parking lot, in fact from experience i'd say the police try to get away with doing as little policing as possible.
I'm afraid that Ms Comer should show a little bit of class (of which she's demonstarted she has very little) and admit to herself that she should not have put herself in that situation in the first place instead of trying to make a few bucks from the results of her criminal behaviour.

I'd say she's lucky to have teeth left. Once under arrest you have no right to resist but the officer has every right to effect the arrest. Someone decides to fight and we should say, Ok - never mind. Sorry.? Get real.
Had this woman murdered your child in an auto accident would you feel the same?

yes. She was drunk, possibly on drugs, she had just been kicked out of the nightclub for violent behaviour and she must have assaulted the copper because on the cctv we saw her connect with his head and knock his helmet off. The peolple who have answered 'couldnt they just pepper spray her' would probably have complained if he had done that as well. You complain about the police, but you would complain even more if they werent there at all.

I'm sick and tired of this already. The policeman was obviously not hitting her in the face or she would have remembered it and would have my sympathy. It was much like rugby players do when an opponent will not let go of them during a scrimmage. He wasnt ''punching'' her as is reported and she was resisting arrest after commiting a crime but I guess her lawyer will get her a bob or two, bless him!!!
