My sons birthday is at the end of March. I would like to have several food items since my mother is the oldest of 9 and almost the whole family is coming(including the 25 cosins). I'd really like the food to follow the theme if possible and I can't do the "fill big trucks" thing becase we don't have them and they cost too much. so all of your help we be very much appreciated.

I know you said you don't want to do a cake, and I think maybe that is because you don't want to buy a cakepan for it? If that's it, I have an idea without a cake pan for a train cake. You can make several loaf pans of cakes, making them train cars. Flip them and decorate them with icing, making windows. You can use twizzlers to connect the cars and jelly beans to make a face on the front of the car. The kids and adults would both love that!

I found a web site (below) that has Thomas the Train party ideas. They don't have to be just for Thomas the Train. It talks about making conductor hats, boarding passes, etc. It sounded really cute.

I hope it works out well for you!! Happy birthday to your little boy :).
