and letters. and other graffiti writers do not think he is a real graffiti artist. is this fair? as graffiti means write on wall. surely thats anything.!

I think that people tend to catagorize graffiti as just cartoon looking letters/words and nothing else because that is how it is seen most often in our society. However I think graffiti can be anything a picture (realism or not) and letters or just one or the other. Art isn't about what others think of the work, its about what the artist is expressing through their work.

People want to put things in neat little categories.
It comforts them. Graffiti is ART and therefore is NOT neatly categorized.

Rest assured, unlike scientific categories such as Giraffe or Polar Bear, Graffiti is many, many things, certainly including realistic and cartoon art and everything in-between. Just don't expect to convince anyone with an axe to grind - to them, Graffiti has distinct boundaries and realistic efforts exist outside those boundaries.
