I've been a Christian all my life and felt called by God to go into the apologetics ministry, but the more I try to defend Christianity with science, philosophy and history, the more impossible it becomes for me to defend my faith!

If one honestly reviews the best of all evidences, one is forced to admit that Evolution is way more valid than Creationism - The manuscript traditions of the Bible are, at best, unreliable and specious, and philosophy has shown fundamental ideas about God are indefensible and Psychology effectively explains the phenomenon of religious faith and the alleged "relationship" that Christians claim to have with Jesus!

I'm afraid that I cannnot continue in my faith because my faith has no substance or merit. I find, for the first time in my life, I have only one rational choice: to abandon my precious Jesus and find meaning in life elsewhere.

ps. Muslims, this goes for you too! Your religion was easier to disprove than Christianity.

Have fun.
This is something you may very well need to do.
I did it too.
Hopefully we will be here when you get back.

May the Lord grant you peace, grace, and mercy on your journey.

Truth is you were never saved to begin with. That "relationship" you claim can be explained by philosophy you clearly never had. That relationship once you truly have it is undeniable. The Bible warns against rejecting Christ and that the punishment in hell for doing so is even worse than the believer. Again you clearly never werew born again or was even saved. Man's philosophy has a very difficult time of destroying a true believers faith no matter how valid or senseible it is. Here is truth for you. ANYONE who looks for proof that CHristianity isn't true will find it because man's reasoning always leads to the untruth. Try to prove CHristianity isn't truth and in your mind you will succeed. In the way the world sees things you also will succeed. That doesn't mean you are right. To resort to ourselves for truth = death. Only God is truth. You keep looking in the world for truth and you will find more and more to disbelieve because DUH you are looking in the world for truth, What do expect to find truth in the World? The World is owned by the Devil. Before it is too late turn back in prayer pray for faith if you have to. Just turn back before it's too late. Reprobate minds can't be changed.

Romans 1:28
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

A passage about Jesus/truth
2 Timothy 2:12
if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us;

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (You have done just this)

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

John 15:6
If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

I lost my faith because I was constantly attacked by christians within my own church when I tried to hold them to their own rules!!! I don't care about evidence or proof or science at all...All I know is that I'm not going to follow a god who told his "chosen people" to slaughter entire races of people, then turns around and completely takes the opposite position and says "love everyone" because....well....who knows why? Maybe the church leaders needed bigger flocks to fill their pockets, who knows? Christianity is a dying religion, and it's about time, it had a violent start, and a violent life...the most effective weapon in the world is a convinced man who's too stubborn (or more likely scared) to abondon irrational beliefs. My advice....just consider jesus as your childhood imaginary friend....and it's time to put him on the shelf. I don't play with transformers anymore, lol....same diff. (Which provokes a humorous mental image of "Old Testament god" transforming into "Buddy Christ" from Dogma, lmao)

That must be a difficult process for you. I have been an atheist from birth on and therefore it's rather easy for me not to believe in any religion. For someone who has been a serious christian it must be painful. I hope you make it and find a new balance in life from using your mind and reason alone. It can be done.

you will never find a peace in life if all you search for is absolute proofs its called faith and has given people peace through out the ages we will never know the truth in evidence until the day we die for me i believe and it gives me a better life on this earth it gives me a hope and for me thats worth it proofs can be manipulated by man and have been shown to be false also

I too at one time thought the lord was calling me but as you can attest to, the more I learned the sillier it all became. Check out this book: "Losing Faith in Faith" by Dan Barker. He was an envangelist who turned away from faith in favor of reason and free thought.

well, first of, I'm a total atheist.

But I know plenty of christians who manage to resolve evolution with God. It is just that the bible was, well, written by ignorant bigots and edited by same over the course of 9 centuries.

Your only mistake was:

Forgeting that God defends you, You don't defend God!
Try Jesus again with this in mind!

Not really.

The Qu'ran supports a lot of scientific things. The Qu'ran is perfectly aligned with science. Heck, it even supports Big Bang, Big Crunch and Evolution.

It's the other way around compare to Christianity, we study science first then compare it to the Qu'ran, as we do not study science by trying to prove the Qu'ran, we prove the Qu'ran by comparing it to known science.

I feel for you. I left Christianity 11 years ago for basically the same reasons.

Good luck on your new quest.
