My previous question: "If I had the 100% truth on everything would you want to know? Even if it meant that you're entire belief system was going to be shattered."

Answers:

"No because the devil also fools with your head and if i have faith in the lord i will only go by what the bible say s and thats that"

"well my God is the only God there is and my faith is in the Bible, His word and there isn't anything that would take me away from Him."

"I would tell you like Apostle Paul said in God's Word, "Let God be true and every man a liar." If it goes against the Word of God it is NOT TRUTH."

See this is the problem, faith over reason cannot be good for you. It's okay to believe in a higher power, but never leave yourself closed to new ideas, you don't know everything so don't pretend you do.

Yeah yeah, it's ok to be open to other ideas but still believe in God...I should know, that's what happened to me!

HA HA HA!!! I love the people that are using bible verses to prove that you (and I, because I'm with you 100%) are the deluded ones...you know that book also says that by giving a blood sacrifice of two doves you can atone for working on sunday, or some other such silliness. Why are you people so afraid to see the truth? Why do you all insist on wrapping yourselves in lies and laying down in straw beds of delusion when you could free yourselves, and finally feel....well.....free? Free from man's tyranical rule via religion, free to do and experience (within the limit of the law, lol...for the most part) whatever you want? Someone cut your ears off or somethin? Can you not see the truth when it's RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU? Wake up!!!

I don't think you're using the word "disillusioned" properly. I think you mean to say "deluded".

I agree with your point, however. Faith's all well and good, but it shouldn't trump reason. If you have good reason not to have faith, in other words, then listen to common sense rather than abandoning it to persist in your convictions. It is arrogant to be so certain that you are right that nothing could ever convince you otherwise.

Everyone makes mistakes, but the only way to correct our mistakes is to re-evaluate our reasons and evidence regularly. If we just say "I believe X because I have faith", where X could be any belief whatsoever, then we have no way of evaluating whether that belief is true or false, harmful or harmless.

You need to lay off the drugs and try living in the real world for awhile. If you truly want to know about God, then quit thinking you already know all you need to know and dismiss the possibility there is a God. Find a good Christian church (I would suggest Catholic Church ) and study what they believe. Then and only then could you make an informed decision about what true FAITH is all about. "The truth will set you free "

i get your point, its not good to be so narrow minded that you are not willing to listen to new ides

some people take the bible very VERY literally

i believe that the bible is very important, but i will listen to new ideas aswell....

God's Word is one of the most imporatant things in my life, even if i don't always listen or follow it....everyone sins!

The problem is that what is in the Bible can be interpreted in many different ways...so some people can get confused and refuse to believe anything else.

its a very difficult and controversial topic to discuss....

perhaps we should just let people believe what they want to...
its their choice, we cant make them do anything or believe anything that they dont want to...

Ah...proof that YOU are disillusioned...:

"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned". -1 Corinthians 2:14

Amen.

I saw one christian asking here who was wavering in her faith, and other 'helpful' christians were telling her to 'close yourself off from all outside influences save for the bible'.

Wow, how ignorant and dangerous is that?

I note that you very carefully picked the "no" answers and left the rest of them alone. Biased, much?

Excellent points. There is nothing wrong with being open minded and a little less arrogant.
