I already consolidated my government student loans, but as to my knowledge these companys don't consolidate private loans.

Sallie Mae consolidates private student loans. Interest rates for private student loans are typically credit-based - they're not guaranteed by the gov, so they're much higher risk to the lender. If you want to lower the interest amount - you should get your credit in shape *before* consolidating and/or find a cosigner with good credit. The cosigner can be released after 24 on-time payments.
