Just smile & say hello back, nothing wrong with being friendly. Perhaps you remind him of his cousin or sister. Maybe you should stop jumping so far ahead of yourself & just accept it as a friendly gesture.

Asking parents isn't going to get you what you want I'm afraid. Might be different in the culture of your family, but 20 & 16 yr olds are in different stages of life where I'm from. If he smiles, he probly likes you, but he also may expect what a 20 yr old girl can give and you're not there yet. It's fine to start dating, but would be better w/someone closer to your age, like 16-17. Remember also, if 1 boy smiles at you, many more will be smiling soon.

Smiling back is OK. As for the boyfriend thing if you are not sure then you probably aren't ready yet. You will know when you are. The age thing isn't that important. If I was your parent I'm sure I would be very anxious and nervous and would want you to wait till you were in your 20's, maybe 30's.... Parents are like that with their kids in general. When it is somebody elses kids they are more open minded....

Its obvious he likes you. Yes you should have a boyfriend - why not, just dont get sexual until you are ready. I married the first real boyfriend I had and I wished I had more boyfriends before him because we ended up in divorce. Experience relationships, have as many as possible before you marry because life is so short and love is a wonderful thing. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

If you think he looks good smile back and talk to him, if yo ulike him date him, if not tell him you don't want a boyfriend , but don't get with him based on the fact that you are too young, your old enough

I would think he is very friendly. If you were my daughter you could NOT date a 20 year old. or even a 19 year ole. Their level of experience is disproportionately higher than yours and they might take advantage of you by exploiting your youth and inexperience.
