This is what it says there :

Kundalini (kuṇḍalinī कुण्डलिनी) is a Sanskrit word meaning either "coiled up" or "coiling like a snake." There are a number of other Westernized translations of the term, e.g. 'serpent power'.

According to tradition, Kundalini is present in an inactive coiled-up state in the root chakra, which is located by various sources as proximate to the sacrum or base of the trunk of the body. Activation of kundalini is said to be associated with the experience of somatic bio-energetic phenomena by the practitioner.

In Hinduism, the concept of Kundalini is part of a complex of ideas related to esoteric anatomy. These ideas occur most often in the class of texts that are called Āgamas or Tantras. This is a large body of scripture, most of which is rejected by orthodox Brahmans.

There are many variations on these concepts in the Sanskrit source texts. In earlier texts there are various systems of chakras and nadis, with varying connections between them. Over time one system of six or seven chakras along the body's axis became the dominant model, adopted by most schools of yoga. This particular system may have originated in about the 11th century AD, and rapidly became widely popular. It is in this model where Kundalini is said to "rise" upward, piercing the various centers until reaching the crown of the head, resulting in union with the Divine.

The most famous of the Yoga Upanishads, the Yogatattva, mentions four kinds of yoga, one of which being laya-yoga, the symbolic dissolution (laya) of the universe visualized within the body with a corresponding raising of a corporeal energy known as Kundalini.

Siva Sutras (translated by Jaideva Singh), one of the main texts by Kashmir Shaiv Tantra written sometime in the 8th century by Vasugupta, hints at the Kundalini and Chakras (Energy centers). When translating, Jaideva Singh had to give a separate chapter on Kundalini, as some of the verses require knowledge of it. This means Kundalini must have been common knowledge to the Vasugupta. However, most books of Kashmir Shiavism have been lost, and the Siva Sutras are the oldest to survive.[citation needed]

Another source text for the concept of kundalini is the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika" written by Swami Svatmarama (English translation, 1992) somewhere between the twelfth and fifteenth centuries.

Saundaryalahari by Adi Shankara is regarded as a devotional work in praise of the Holy Mother and Kundalini

Hope that helped.

Cheers!

According to the philosophy of Tantra, the entire universe is a manifestation of pure consciousness. In manifesting the universe, this pure consciousness seems to become divided into two poles or aspects, neither of which can exist without the other.

One aspect, Shiva, is masculine, retains a static quality and remains identified with unmanifested consciousness. Shiva has the power to be but not the power to become or change.

The other aspect, Shakti, is feminine, dynamic, energetic and creative. Shakti is the Great Mother of the universe, for it is from her that all form is born.

According to Tantra, the human being is a miniature universe. All that is found in the cosmos can be found within each individual, and the same principles that apply to the universe apply in the case of the individual being.

In human beings, Shakti, the feminine aspect is called Kundalini. This potential energy is said to rest at the base of the spinal cord. The object of the Tantric practice of Kundalini-yoga is to awaken this cosmic energy and make it ascend through the psychic centres, the chakras, that lie along the axis of the spine as consciousness potentials. She will then unite above the crown of the head with Shiva the pure consciousness. This union is the aim of Kundalini-yoga: a resolution of duality into unity again, a fusion with the Absolute. By this union the adept attains liberation while living which is considered in Indian life to be the highest experience: an union of the individual with the universe.

In Tantrism the state of ultimate bliss is a transcendence of dualities male-female, energy-consciousness, Shiva-Shakti...

Kundalini is the cosmic energy within the human body which makes us a small but significant part of the cosmos. It is situated at the tip of the base of the spinal cord. from teh spinal cord eminate, at different intervals, bunches of nerves which extend into different parts of the body thereby controlling it. these nerve centers are the points where different 'chakras' are situated. the base chakra is the 'mooladhar chakra' at the tip of the base of the spinal cord where the 'kundalini' is usually resting. and through yogic practices this energy (kundalini) is made to travel upwards penetrating teh different chakras till it reaches the 'sahastradha chakra' which is where the brain is and is the most dense collection of nerves.

The exercise to mobilize kundalini from its base is a very difficult and long process and needs expert guidance. As it is the basic energy which helps us function and which keeps the human machine running, it should not be taken lightly and experimented with.

Hope this helps.

Kundalini is the Eternal Energy in human being. It is located in the Muladhara
Kundalini can be active only with yoga. It is dormant in the form of a snake which will gradually awaken and shape like a lotus flower by means of constant practice of meditation. It will take you to self realization, self conciousness and elevate you to spiritual hights to the stage of saint. Further elevation to Parabrahma the Almighty.

Kundalini is the Adi-shakti(Eternal Energy), lying dormant in every human being.

It lies in the Muladhara Chakra (base), coiled 3 and half times and keeping her tail in the mouth... hence it is also called Sarpini (serpant)

Kundalini is responsible for giving us energy for survival, for reproduction for taking us to other astral worlds and new-births.

Kundalini if fully awakened, rush through Sushumna nadi (in spine) to sahasardhara chakra (crown) and mates with Shiva (Pure consciousness ) in crown chakra...and we become enlighted.

Kundalini Yoga is very dangerous and cant be done without proper guru

However, small and harmless Kriyas can make Kundalini release small energy currents, which can be used to gain spiritual benefits

All Yogas and all meditation, irrespective of religion, finally make Kundalini to release currents, or to awaken

I dont know too much about Kundalini
but what i do know is that it is the base chakra , the main chakra
and working on your kundalini can balance all others
once that is done , then our body and mind work beautifully together and can be quite powerful
i understand though that care should be taken when working on this

Kundilini, means "coiled."

This is the name of a goddess symbolised by a serpent with three and one half coils, sleeping with its tail in its mouth. This goddess, or "serpent of life, fire, and wisdom" supposedly resides in the body of a man near the base of the spine. When aroused without proper control, it rages like a vicious serpent inside a man with a force that is impossible to resist. It is said that without proper control, the "Kundilini" will produce supernatural psychic powers having their source in demonic beings and will ultimately lead to moral, spiritual, and physical destruction. Nevertheless, it is this "Kundilini" power that meditation and Yoga are designed to arouse and control.

Kundilini is demonic.
