I would consider it highly unlikely that science and technology could lead to the collapse of a civilization, because they are both involved in improvements in the way of life of the civiliation.
However, there are two scenarios in which, depending upon your point of view, science and technology could lead to a collapse of a society.
First, would be the threat that is caused by the proliferation of nuclear weapons. These weapons are the direct result of science and technology, and their use, would very likely lead to the collapse of the society they are used upon. Even here in the United States, where we like to think we are the most civilized of societies, I fear that the detonation of a couple of nuclear devices on our soil could very well lead to the collapse of our society.
Second will be the future threat caused by overpopulation of the planet, that is caused by increases in life expectancy brought about by advances in science and technology. If a population ever gets to the point where it is so large as to cause the collapse of the environment around it, then the whole civiliation could collapse as a set of dominoes.
Best of luck to you!!

No. A manic desire for power and control over others is what leads to social collapse. Lying, deception, science and technology (abused) are the methods used. Science and technology are just tools that can be rightly used, or abused.

indirectly it could lead to problems:
two issues are, there becomes too much technology to support without it becoming a vicious cycle. You need the science know how to do the support. Then you spend all your resources maintaining your technogly.
The othere issue becomes the have and have not issues, between those who can not afford to keep up with the technology and those who simplely do not want to be burden with all the gadgets. This creates a divide in society.
