The guy punched her in the arm in order to make her let go, if you actually watch the video instead of jumping on the bandwagon you'd see that for yourself. It's a legitimate use of force that we're all taught in basic training. If someone tries to grab you/your equipment or starts trying to hit you then you do everything you can to prevent that from happening.

1. The female in question had commited a criminal offence and was resisting arrest. Now, I know it's great to shout down the police when you 'think' they've done something wrong, but how about if your car had been damaged by a white male yob, and the police had to use force on him to arrest him as he was kicking off in a disorderly, violent, aggressive, drunken stupor? I guess there would be far less people moaning - well lets have a sense of equality shall we? It is one rule for everyone - the police will use force where necessary.

2. It is a perfectly legitimate form of defence to throw a clenched fist towards someone and this is taught to trainee officers. The police officer who did so is not attempting to hide the fact in any way whatsoever. He is perfectly within his rights to use this level of force if he thinks it necessary. I imagine that those of you who are not police officers would be able to control all the people officers have to deal with nowadays with a few stern words and no force whatsoever? Dream on.

3. CCTV is misleading. That said, the officer has stated that yes, he did hit her. The force have stated that they are happy with the actions he took. It's funny how she only decides that she can make a complaint out of this after her solicitor gets hold of the cctv - she doesn't even remember what happened, apparently.

4. I sometimes wonder why any person would want to join the police. If you're not moaning at police driving standards when using blue lights, you're moaning about the level of force. We can't win. I just wish people would sometimes consider how exactly they would like the service run, because clearly nothing done by the police is ever good enough. Perhaps if we refuse to ever enter into any situation where conflict might arise, we leave the drunks to roam the streets until they're sober and sensible, we deal with those with guns/knives only once they have decided to put the gun/knife down, we attend every job at 30mph in rush hour traffic, we don't act on any terrorism intelligence in case we get it wrong (depsite the fact that 99% of the time it's right - you hear about the 1% that's not).... I could go on as the moans from the public are endless. Trust me - for the scrutiny and criticism we get, most officers would feel a whole lot safer if the examples above were true. In your day job, what's the worse that can happen if you mess up? Think about it - officers find themselves risking their life, freedom etc. every time they act.

Show some support, wait to hear the proper facts and stop jumping on the media band wagon.

And to the person who says that they're an ex-cop and all cops are racist etc... what planet are you on? Are you brave enough to name your 'ex' force and tell us why you are no longer an officer?

Once again the Police do something that has been manipulated to look like wrongdoing by the defence in this case and the media fall for it hook line and sinker. When will people like you open your eyes to the fact that the media brainwash you and deliberately distort the truth to make things look worse than they actually are. Police Officers face a daily war in the streets against the low life kind of scum Toni Comer is but when they do anything to try and curb that behaviour everyone not on the job is suddenly an expert in law enforcement and knows precisely how that situation should have been dealt with.

Interesting that some people(I call them that loosely)say the officer should be charged with GBH or sent to prison - for what ?.This female was injured the officer was using a method approved by the Home Office, she says she doesn't remember a thing.I think that the police are just an easy target for the media and some people believed everything they see on TV or read in the gutter press.By the way on this site today the answers backing the officer are far in excess of those against.

No, I feel so sorry for the police officer in question hes being made a total scape goat. That girls obviously a wrong un. She was up to no good, resisted arrest, had ample opportunity to remove herself from the situation, admits criminal damage and having no memory of the incident. She did the wrong thing and has to face the consequences.

I also hate the fact that shes coloured being mentioned on the news and stuff. So what?!? Its down to her behaviour and conduct not her colour!

It was a disgrace, but perhaps she was lucky she wasn't shot in the head eight times like the poor guy in Stockwell station, for which nobody has been held responsible or called to account. The usual whitewash. They can only arrest old ladies who put cannabis in their teacakes, meanwhile they turn a blind eye to the proper drug dealers on the street corners, because of PC liberalism. Both wing mirrors were ripped off my car and the police didn't want to know.

The people of this country do nothing but whinge about the drunkeness and vandalism that goes on here, but when positive action occurs, suddenly everyones a liberal. She had been evicted from the nightclub, had vandalised a car, picked something up from the floor of the garage before being persued, and appeared to hit the copper first. The Guardian has made her up to look like an angel with a ridiculous sob story. I wonder how you would feel if it was your car that samshed by this scum. As for the racist issues involved; isn't that getting a little bit old now?
And to the ex-police officer on here, you'll know how difficult it is to subdue and handcuff someone who is violently resisting.

The woman in the video is the disgrace, not the police. After the way she acted, she got what she deserved.

the question instead of denidgating law enforcers who have to put up with crazy piss heads, should be why do people see the need to get so drunk that they cannot remember what they did. as was the case with this woman, the policeman should not be hitting her , however if she had not got so drunk then vandalise the car and resisted arrest it would never have happened.
i am no supporter of the police , however, take a walk late at night most weekends into any large town up and down the Uk and you will see people behaving worse than animals, fighting, urinating in the street, manhandling the opposite sex, swearing etc.
We as a society need to stop the perpetrators , then if the police are still hitting the public without provocation, we then neeed to deal with that.

I think all the facts need to come out first, only the cops involved and the lady know all the facts. If she resisted arrest then she gets what she needs until she stops. End of story.

Walk a mile in the shoes before you condemn.
