Only Mary will know if the virgin birth is true or not, and only 2 out of the 4 chosen gospels mentioned it. Jesus performed faith healings, note that he often ask if a person has faith when he is healing and on instances when someone gets well, jesus pointed out that its because of his faith, the bible says that he only did a few miracles in his hometown because the people there lacks faith. As for some miracles, like walking on water and turning water into wine, he might not be walking right in the middle of the body of water, Peter also tried to walk but finally fell out of balance, it might not be deep or they might be walking on the side; turning water into wine is somewhat a saying, pointing to the enlightening of ordinary people and should not be taken literally as really water turning into wine. Jesus as son of God, he was being emphasized as a descendant of King David, David is also designated as Son of God in Psalms. Many scholars believes Jesus modelled his life on the prophecies, e.g. riding on a donkey, etc. In the complete works of Josephus (the 1st century jewish historian), he only mentioned jesus in a short paragraph and modern scholars believes it was actually inserted or edited by later christians. It was Paul who made Jesus famous and he never met the historical Jesus, the jerusalem church continued by the apostles has little impact, when reading Galatians, one will note that conflicts even occured between Paul and those of the jerusalem church (peter, james, john, etc). Hundreds of books about the historical Jesus are interesting, unfortunately many writings were destroyed by the Inquisition.

The reason that Jesus was born from a virgin is significant because we all inherit sin from our parents, and are born imperfect (Romans 5:12). Whereas Jesus was implanted by God (Luke 1:34-35), and therefore was a perfect human (Hebrews 5:9). Like Adam and Eve before they sinned. This was possible for God to do because he created man from dust in the first place (Genesis 2:7).
The miracles that Jesus performed were extordinary, and large in number. He got the dead to rise (John 11:44), cured life long ailments like blindness (Matthew 15:31) and all in front of a large number of witnesses. Not only this, but people were doing the same thing by simply 'using' his name (Luke 9:1-2).
I agree with you about people seeing crosses in their dreams, and the most notible of these was actually the Roman leader Constintine. He was actually a follower of the 'Sun god', and a cross was used by the people that worshiped the 'Sun god'. Even 'vestal virgins' wore crosses. The story goes that Constintine had a dream about Jesus, and woke up to see a cross in the sun. It was very convienent at the time, and was more than likely politicially motivated.
The cross is actually a pagan symbol which has been adopted by the Christian church in the 3rd century, and made popular through films and television. The original word's used in the Bible is 'stauros', which means 'stake' or 'pole', and 'xylon', which means 'timber' or 'tree'. Also we are actually warned against using idols (Exodus 20:4).
Romans 5:12
That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned
Luke 1:34-35
But Mary said to the angel: “How is this to be, since I am having no intercourse with a man?” In answer the angel said to her: “Holy spirit will come upon you, and power of the Most High will overshadow you. For that reason also what is born will be called holy, God’s Son.
Hebrews 5:9
and after he had been made perfect he became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those obeying him
Genesis 2:7
And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.
John 11:44
The [man] that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth. Jesus said to them: “Loose him and let him go.”
Matthew 15:31
so that the crowd felt amazement as they saw the dumb speaking and the lame walking and the blind seeing, and they glorified the God of Israel
Luke 9:1-2
Then he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to cure sicknesses. And so he sent them forth to preach the kingdom of God and to heal,
Exodus 20:4
“You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth.

"How can Jesus be borned from a virgin if that is biologically not possible"? What does biologically impossible mean? It means it goes against natural law. But if there is a God who created the universe then He made the physical laws too. God would not make laws that He Himself has to follow. That would be like building a jail cell all around you from within and then when you are through locking it from the inside and throwing away the key. Now you're locked in your own jail cell. That would be stupid. Is God stupid? If there is a God who created the Physical laws of the universe, He can break them any time He wants. It's called a miracle. Now if you can prove that there is no God then that's a different story. But I'd like to see you do that.
"Do we know for sure that her account or even the later Jewish scholars who wrote the story held any truths"? WHAT JEWISH SCHOLARS? The story of the virgin birth was told in two of the gospels, namely, Matthew and Luke. Matthew was an eyewitness. He traveled around with Jesus for 3 1/2 years as one of His disciples. He would have had access to Mary. Luke traveled with the apostles after Jesus's death and with Paul and also would have had access to Mary. Also, the virgin birth was prophecized 700 years before Christ was born in Isaiah 7:14. The Messiah was to be born of a virgin. Mary said He was and Jesus verified that what she said was true by His miraculous life of performing miracles and rising from the dead.
"What about the "miracles" that Jesus performed? Was it uncommon for someone to report such unnnatural acts to support their religions (ie Greek & Roman Gods)" ? Everyone of these disciples(and there were many more than 12) Lived a persecuted life for what they were preaching. Anybody who has ever seen the movie 'the passion of Christ' saw how bloody the scene about the scourging of Jesus was. In reality it was probably worst than that. But paul was scourged 5 times and beaten with rods 3 times and stoned once. All of the apostles lived similar persecuted lives. Then they all died martyrs deaths in horrible ways(with the exception of John whom they just couldn't kill....he took all the torture and still lived through it). Does it make sense that they would make up this whole big lie and then live a persecuted life and die a horrible death just for a lie? You take Peter, for instance. Peter saw everything. He says so in 2Peter 1:16 where he says " For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty".
Peter was persecuted all his life for his faith and then he was crucified upside down. He requested to be crucified upside down feeling that he was not worthy to be crucified as His Lord was. But before he was crucified, the romans crucified his wife and made him stand there and watch it. Surely, if he was lying about all this he would have said "that's it, I can't go any farther with this lie". But he didn't. All the disciples(there may have been 500 to 1,000 by that time) were the same way. Yet they all went to their deaths rather than deny the faith.
"What about all the strange halluciniations that people (leaders, fanatics, local priests) have said about seeing a cross in their day dreams"? Give me a break. Jesus is recorded to have made 15 appearances and those are just the ones that are recorded. They were to a multitude of different people in different places. One time He appeared to 500 people according to 1Corinthians 15:6. He appeared to his brother James who was not a believer until after the ressurection. James then went on to lead the jerusalem church and he was eventually martryed. The hallucination theory is 19th century scholarship. It's long ago been refuted.

I can see how the "born from a virgin" story would start out too....."No, SIR! I did NOT have sex with your daughter!...but I will marry her....." All of a sudden, "We never had sex, but she's pregnant...it must be god's baby" They didn't have mail-men back then, lmao...
As far as some of jesus's "miracles"....I think it's a combination of over-embelishment, and missunderstanding/blurring of facts after numerous repititions...like the "telephone game." I remember one party where I turned wine into water....very suspicious....
Never believe what people say they dream about or what happens that only they can see/experience...look at the salem witch trails, that was REDICULOUS!!!

First, Jesus (Christ) was the son of God and not "son of Christ".
Second, before you question "Jesus being born of a virgin"...you must first think of how man was created by God from the dust of the earth.
Third, those miracles of Jesus was witnessed by those people who were closed to him and later they testified in the bible. If we do not believe other people's testimony why the heck we have criminal courts that convict criminals based on testimonies?
Last, you must be referring to Constantine and his vision - "with this sign-conquer"? Forget it...it's all scripted...believe me!

Faith is believing in what you know ain't true!...Mark Twain said something pretty much the same and there's your answer.
Through faith alone you can believe anything you want and you wouldn't want to believe in The Bible other than the fact that so many people have been pushing this a piece of propaganda for so long they've lost sight of the difference between truth and lies , fact and opinion.

All good points.Jesus was just another guy who just so happened was able to wow enough people with stories to create a cycle of gullibility and even allowed himself to die to keep the stories alive.Or at least that is what it says in the Bible. And we all know that if it is in a book then it must be true.
