Mainly, A degree from the Air Force Academy.

or barring that, a Air Force ROTC graduate.

Do well on the AFOQT

A GPA of atleast 3.0

Only about 10% of Air force Pilot selections are thru OCS and they typicaly have to score about 20% higher than ROTC graduates to be selected.

I posted a link that takes you thru the whole process and shows what they look for.

Problem solving skills, ability to perform under stressful conditions, dedication to your chosen service and task at hand. If you are at all serious, and I believe you are, take as many space-science, engineering courses as you can. USAF will teach you to fly and in combat situations as well, and of course provide you with the navigational skills you will need. Math and science will be your best lead-ins, but they will expect you to be human as well so learn a foreign language, get into rpg games which require you to think as well as slash and bomb. Be able to balance a checkbook, relate well with family and friends and consider you want a career with the Air Force rather than just doing a four year term. They want the best and the brightest and if you love knowledge as well as flight, go for it. "Top Gun," "Iron Eagle," and other films were made for civilians whom will be more likely to support military operations if they get a little romance for their tax money. Be relaxed, flexible, patriotic and somewhat of a Boy or Girl Scout with a mention or two of past community service on your resume. Above all be yourself, and if you have a bit of rebel blood, make sure it emerges with a cause in mind.

One thing they look for is that you will obey instructions. e.g. you won't delay if told to drop a bomb on a designated target. They also want people that comply with rules in general. Don't get taken in by the "Top Gun' crap.
