Ask them.
I can speculate but thats all it is.
Maybe they are setting it up so when they turn 40 they can say they are 30. If it bothers you though, just ask them. Just say "hey Im curious why you lie about your age, whats the deal?"

I really don't know. My ex lied to me about how old he was because he said before we started going out that I said I wouldn't, by no means, date anybody older then my sister(which isn't/wasn't true). At the time my sister was 25, so he said he was 24. After we broke up(3months) I found out he was 27. Some people do stupid things like lie about their age. And 1 yr isn't really much of a difference. I could see if they 20 and said they were 21 or something. Not being 22 and saying they're 21. Hope someone gives you the answer you're looking for. Good luck.

21 seems a better age for someone to feel like they just became an adult. They must have issues with getting old and cant handle the truth of their age. Or maybe that they forget that they turned 22 and were used to saying 21 for some reason.

Did they recently turn 22?
I often absent-mindedly refer to myself as being a year younger, purely because I forget I've had a birthday, or I'm used to saying that age... and I'm only 23.
If they do it consciously, I have no idea why anyone would do that. Except that 21 sounds a lot younger than 22, despite the single year gap.

well i mean this has happened to me.
if you are like under 6 months to become an age higher, it is legal to say you are that age.
for example she is 21 and 7 months. she could say she's 22. it wouldn't make a difference. so people that say she's actually 21 are technical about it.
goodluck man!

I don't know. That is a strange thing. Maybe they feel that one extra year makes them too old to hang out with some people that are younger.

Because lying is fun. Fun fun fun did you know I lied about being a girl for a whole year and no one knew. I didn't work and I suck the life out of men. Plus I got to go in the showers.

people tell little white lies everyday. let them, eventually they'll slip up and expose themselves. besides is this lie hurting anyone? i doubt it.
stop meddling in other people's affairs, unless you want someone to publicly call you out on all of your lies.

I would ascertain that that individual may, in fact, be a pathological liar. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathological_liar or if you're in a real hurry just watch "Sex Lies and Videotape."
