He is a terrier. One of the toughest breeds to own....now you understand why.

Exercise and more exercise. When you think he has played or walked enough...go a little more.

Then start obed. training. Only give praise and rewards when he has worked well.

Don't over smother your dog with love....treat him like a dog, make him 'work' for your love.

This is difficult, but your dog will come to respect you, and as he ages, he will become the companion that you wanted.

Don't give up. I know it is hard, and there were times my GSD made me burst into tears with frustration. Hire a trainer for a few sessions. Then you will have someone to call when you need guidance.

This is a type of breed that would test anyone's resolve.

Good Luck - I am pulling for you!

Westies can be a bit tricky to train - but not impossible. Be firm and always consistent in your training (don't send mixed messages) and keep sessions short and fun.

Show dog people refer to terriers as terrors. Any wonder why?

And terrier people..don't hate on me. I owned a Westie and would like to add a Norwich to my crew.

Westies are incredibly stubborn. You need to be firm and consistant to get any results. Bribery works well too!!
