I've dating my girlfriend for 6 months. Things were very good. Recently she bought a new house and moved-in. Now she announced she wants to take a break from our relationship for 1+ months? Yesterday during the day. She said she would be at work seminar and then go for drinks afterwards. When I called her at 9PM her cell answered by accident and i could hear her but she intended to put me into voicemail. Well I was curious and listened even though she did not know her phone was on. I heard some of the distant conversation. I heard Trish and also heard a man's voice. I listened for 3 minutes than the call dropped. Trish sounded like she had been drinking and the man was asking about her other boyfriends. some was not to clear to hear. The last thing I heard was Trish saying "Do what ya gotta do honey"..Then disconnected. Help me out. Should tell trish exactly what i heard and let her explain it. will she hate me for snooping? or ask in a round about way or forget it happened

The worst thing about all the answers i read on this website is everyone is very cold and says dump her, let her go etc. There are emotions involved that need to be considered. First of all do you trust her? if so leave it alone and move on with repairing your relationship. If you don't trust her there are heaps of other issues you need to consider and the answer either way is not going to help you. My take on the converstaion is she is at the pub talking to a workmate about relationshsips, both sharing stories. The "do what you gotta do is could be advice for her workmate's relationship. Innocent! Only you know the story and only you can work it out. Good luck!

I'd take a hint that she wants to take a break from your relationship because she wants to explore another avenues, meaning this guy as a possibility. I wouldn't say anything because sometimes it's best not to show all your cards at one time. I would move on. The fact that you listened in is no big deal. It wasn't as if you called to do it, it just happened. She also didn't wait for you to go out and have a few. That should again give you some idea of her priorities. I'm sorry, but I'd have to let her go for now.

OK, first off you should never commit to action on faulty intel (leads to things like Iraq). You have two choices. Consider the info tainted and therefore not usable; then go on as before. Look for other signs that might be added to that partial intel and actually add up to something. Or choice number two. Verify and clarify. Simply tell her what happened and ask for an explanation. Keep in mind she will be defensive and therefore my lie. Stay calm and do not accuse her of anything so her answers will be less defensive and more truthful. Good luck!

Well if she wanted a break in the relationship it is natural that she want to "test the waters" some more. I think the best thing is to be straight forward and ask her. Just stay calm and level headed when you talk to her. Hate to sound jaded but if she is looking for something else to compare you and hers relationship with. It makes sence that you should do the same thing not wait around sitting on your hands to see if she is going to come back.

She trying somebody new... if it doesn't work out with him, you're her safety net.

I would walk away, not worth it.

You can't prove anything. Anything short of finding her in bed with the guy, she will deny it. Then what are you going to do, scream at her, cry like baby? It's going to get ugly and nobody is going to smell like roses after that.

Say it will me, "She is not my girlfriend because she is taking a break from me"

It's harsh, but the truth.

If you are that clingy, I mean still want to be with her after she finds out that the guy is not the guy she wants to go back to ole'reliable (aka YOU). I say start dating because she has a chance of losing you and it makes you more appealing, if the guy turns out to be a jerk she is SOL. It's a risk issue. Right now, you have no risk. You don't have to get "intimate" with the other females, but see it as test driving other models, not necessary break'em in. You might find like a sports car or econ class, rather then one you have now and want to make a permanent trade in.

Good luck.

A sensitive issue indeed. She might be druck to remember what she said. Another way is that you could casually ask her about it when you go out with her the next time. Don't try to call or sms her now. Just let it cool and wait for a while.

A relationship will never blossom if you cant trust the person your with and similarly be able to talk to them. I would question her and she what she says. If she cannot be truthful she is not worth having; even if the sex is amazing! A relationship is supposed to be more than the physical aspect, at least its more meaningful and fullfilling if it is...

Good luck, pal. I wish you the best!

Move on. It's obvious she's taking a "break" to mess around. She's probably getting bored and want to have fun with someone new. I'm betting she screwed that guy.

Move on if she wants the break from you. There must be a reason and its not your place to have feelings about her talking to another man anyways. Let it go and move on
