Hearing this from a guy might sound funny BUT the situation is actually scary and made me scream.

I am sure if any guy experienced this, he would scream.

I was lying on my side in bed, resting, trying to sleep, on the phone and suddenly, a SPIDER comes crawling from under my blankets. and I can see it get close to me since I am on my side. I was getting close to my chest and I basically SCREAMED and got up.

I found the nearest thing I could. I got a water bottle and smashed it. Then I flushed it down the toilet.

The spider wasn't small or big. It was medium sized about the size of your thumb.

I am horrified I HATE spiders.

Now I am not going to sleep for the rest of the night.
I have class and tests in the morning too :(

So has anyone experienced something like this?

What can I do to get rid of these spiders? WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? I kill at least one a week or so.

I hate them too! Just shake off all your blankets, make sure you vacuum everyday. get rid of any out side plants that are near windows. seal cracks and seals. you cannot totally get rid of them but this should help. just remember, they will not kill you. good luck and get some sleep!

Most spiders are not dangerous, only the ones that live in the darkest parts of your building are black widows. They are very shy and don't come crawling around your bed. Spiders are our friends. They rid our homes of noxious insects. Some people believe that the souls of our dead ancestors reside in the spiders.

Yet so many people fear them. I am the only one in the house that likes spiders. Everyone comes to me to get rid of them. I will carefully trap them in a glass or on a piece of paper and shake them outside. I will very rarely kill a spider. Maybe they know that and then don't bug me. LOL

What you have is a phobia called arachniphobia. There is lots of help out there for various phobias. Here is a book you can purchase:

I don't know if it will really help you, but it is worth a shot. I suppose you could go into therapy, but it would be a lot more expensive.

It's funny. Most men I know feel this way. What do you live in? A dorm? If you have a house, you can plant spearamint, mint, or peppermint around the outside of your house at the foundation. this gets rid of almost ALL pests. If you live in the dorm, keep a few of these plants around, scatter their leaves at the baseboards. Otherwise, if chemical is no issue, just about any off the shelf spray will do, read and follow directions.

Try to think of somewhere peaceful and imagine it in your mind until you relax and fall asleep. Tomorrow get a bug bomb and follow the directions.
