Me and a friend who live in the same dorm building, have both noticed that we have what seems to be a rash under one of our arm pits, both on the left side. It is very painful ... it burns and itch's and it bothers us a little during the day but when we lay down to go to sleep at night, it really starts to act out and begins to burn and itch even more. We were thinking maybe we somehow got it from our showers but no one else has complained of this, Also a girl on our floor had shingles about 2 weeks ago ... could that be what it is ? are shingles contagious? if you know anything about this ... please let me know ... and yes we are planning to go to the doctor 2morrow after our classes ... Thanks

Sounds like contact dermatitus or scabies. Either way, use Tea tree Oil on it twice a day and it should clear up in a week or so

Yes shingles can be contagious. Could it be your razors were crossed? or she had it and set hers in the same spot? however, shingles is not simply a RASH. Its more like a cluster of BURNING PAINFUL blisters. To get infected from someone you would need contact of the fluid from the blister into an open cut or sore on your body. Suffice it to say......if you have blisters, then it might be possible that if she shaved over hers, and set down her razor in the shower, then you set yours there, shaved, and rouched up your skin or cut it, then it would be a long shot but possible to get it. Also, it could be things such as chiggers, a tick, fleas etc. Is there anything you and your roomate share? Deodorant, etc. Well, you'll know tomorrow! I'd be interested to know what it was!

1st off, if you've ever had the chicken pocks, you will one day have shingles (most likely) b/c it's the same virus. Herpes (not the STD herpes, a different strain) So put your mind to rest about that. The virus for shingles is most likely dormant in your system already. Have you or your roommate recently tried any new deodorants, or cleansers? What about clothing, recently get new uniforms or anything like that? My best advice would be to take some benadryl if the itching gets too bad, and wait for it to blow over, or go see your regular doctor in the clinic, and most likely, you will get some anti-fungal to help clear it up.

Yes, shingles are contagious; but they generally dont start under the armpit. They are on the trunk of the body along the line of a nerve. Like mid abdomen horizontally across the belly button.

I am glad you are going to the Dr. soon. I think this may just be razor rash. You need to always us a clean razor that is used by you only. After shaving, don't immediately put deodorant on. This can cause irritation too. Good luck.

shingles happen to people usually in old age if they had chicken pox as a child, sounds like you have an allergy to soap, laundry detergent, or deoderant, did you and your friend use the same deoderant?? it also could be some sort of nasty little body bug i suppose.
