I have a five month old pitbull. The vet says shes an APBT, but shes only 23 lbs. People have told me she is small for being an APBT so i looked at pictures of the American Staffordshire terrier, the staffordshire bull terrier the APBT and the Bull terrier. I can rule out the Bull terrier. But she has characteristics of the other 3, I would just like to know if there is a website that tells me where a certain breed should be, weight and height wise, at what age. As well as a detailed description of the breeds. I know there is no way of knowing for sure what she is without having papers,but Id just like to have an idea. Thank you!

The UKC breed standard for an APBT says: The American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desired weight for a mature female in good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds.
The AKC breed standard for an Amstaff says: Height and weight should be in proportion. A height of about 17 to 18 inches for the female is to be considered preferable.
The AKC breed standard for the Staffordshire Bull Terrier says: Height at shoulder: 14 to 16 inches. Weight: Dogs, 28 to 38 pounds; bitches, 24 to 34 pounds, these heights being related to weights
Your dog is only 5 months so she still has some growing to do. Fully grown she will probably be on the smaller side, but I don't think she is small for an APBT. People are probably just saying that because they are used to seeing these huge mastiff mixes and bully-style pits, that weigh 90+ lbs, most of which are not true APBT's at all. There is a possibility that you're girl could be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier though, but if the vet said APBT, then she is more likely an APBT.
But if you have a pic, I might be able to help you out a little more.

According to both of my growth charts, your pup should be about 43-45 pounds when grown. that is a proper size for a purebred pit bull female.
