even if the earth somehow survives our wholesale destruction of it, we would eventually go extinct anyway through evolution, just like all our non-human ancestors did.

Unfortunately for us, we humans are destroying our environment much faster than we are developing a way to escape it and save ourselves. Many of Earth's living species will become extinct in our lifetimes as a direct result of our continued lack of respect for the planet we all share. I do believe that humanity as we now know it is doomed. Earth will be better off without us. How sad is that!?!

In this world of Mega nuclear weapons, there would be zero left to "start" a new world with (of course, God [Jesus] would intervene before that time of absolute annihilation and begin to straighten up the mess and restore the earth and the people (dead ones too to life). A New Heaven and a new earth will be the eventual order of the day. Read all about it in the Book of Revelation and in many parts through out the whole Bible. We ALL WIN in the end !!!

Even if we find a way to travel to another solar system and establish colonies there - which is doubtful, but possible - the heat death of the universe will eventually catch up with us.

That's assuming we don't do ourselves in first.

Humanity will (hopefully) last millions of years, but even if our species lives for that long we'll be very different than we are now.
