No secrets. You have to find a job and the employer must be willing to file the H1B application for you. Most of the visas are used by bodyshops and do not leave anything for companies like M$oft,Cisco,Sun etc. Body shops hire and sit and resort to all kinds of practices like non payment etc. Gates and others cannot afford to do that and will hire on need basis. Unfortunately when thier need arises to hire people like you there are no more visas. The H1b system is being abused by many body shops. People are thinking about war only and the country is going downhill in all other aspects. You might want to come on L1 and then find an employer who can do your H1. More over, if you can come on L1 and start your Green card, you should get it in 1 year which avoids the visa crap. check out sites like www.immigrationvoice.org, www.murthy.com,www.immigration.com etc

You need to find a job first, after that it is easy.
You will pay an attorney something like 1500 bucks, he will do the papers so that the Labor department issues a permit. They will issue you some I-7hundred something, you will take that and go to the embassy or consulate and that's it. A work visa for 3 years. Make haste, they have a quota as to the number of applicants and I dont know when it will be full.
Good luck

Get a university to sponsor you so that you are exempt from the cap.
Otherwise, get in gear as the above poster said b/c I think the cap filled up in May last year which gives you about 8 weeks to get it in.

The only way to get one is to find an employer willing to sponsor you. The employer does all the paperwork and pays all the fees.

Our congressmen and women are always for sale. Just call the Capitol switchboard and I'm sure they'll hook you up for a fee.
