I've got tattoos on both arms and one leg, and I personally didn't find either to be that painful, but then, I've got a high tolerance for pain. To me, it felt like someone drawing on me with a ballpoint pen and pressing down a bit too hard at times, or, as I've seen one person describe it, like pressing down a bit too firmly with an electric razor. The more flesh padding over the area, the less it hurts. You are likely to experience more pain where the skin is thinner and there is less muscle padding over a bone, like on the ankle, for example. Areas which receive a great deal of "wear", like the hands and feet, are not usually good choices of where to put a tattoo because they will fade much quicker there, and sunlight will also fade a tattoo.
I have to ask, though, why at the age of 15, you want a tattoo. Your interests and likes and dislikes will change considerably between now, and even, say, the age of 25. Something that seems totally cool to you now might have no meaning for you a few years down the road, but if you've got it tattooed on your body, you're stuck with it anyway. I was actually 30 when I got my first tat, since I wanted to make sure it was something that I'd be happy with and proud of for the rest of my life, and I designed all of my own tattoos rather than getting something from stock flash. Looking back to when I was 15, if I'd gotten a tattoo of something that I was really into back then, I'd be unhappy with it now. Getting a tattoo is WAY cheaper and less painful than having one removed!

anywhere you put a tattoo is going to give you discomfort, but if you are placing a tattoo where there is a bone (on your ankle or wrist or back, close to the spine), then those would be the most painful areas. If you're putting a tattoo where there is a lot of 'flesh', then it will still be uncomfortable, but not AS painful as if you put it somewhere that has a bone that protrudes.

Why are people who hate tattoos responding??!!
Honestly, they both really feel about the same. Also, consider that the pain when getting a tattoo is part of the process and it makes it not hurt.

PUTTING a tattoo on your arm or leg won't hurt the artist a bit.........OHHHH you meant will GETTING a tattoo hurt. Yes it will hurt.........Imagine someone pouring gasoline on your skin, lighting it, and giving you an icepick to put the fire out with.......It won't hurt THAT bad.....but you are probably going to cry like a little girl....

if you're 15, i wouldn't recommend it. Wait 5 years or something.
You may have regrets and it isn't something you can erase just like that.
I think it depends where abouts on your arm or leg you are getting the tattoo.

Yeah I agree with "alphafemale" tattos are so unrealistic... as if you'd get one... gosh. TRANSFERABLE tatts are the craze now. get with the times. ( you know the ones you get in like cereal boxes and stuff. Lol) If you really wanna get one the i sugest the leg so that you wont have to look at it when you're sick of it. :D
