Trimming is great for both if you plan on having company. Shaving and waxing other than the bikini line is not healthy and can hurt you. That hair does serve a purpose whether you are educated about it or not.

People shave their pubic hair because some people find it attractive. That hair GROWS there to hold in our natural "scent".. which, instinctively attracts a "mate" for reproducing. It is also there to protect the sensitive skin beneath it. Shaving can cause ingrown hairs and other minor infections.. which aren't usually a big deal, but they can be a nuisance.
It is a personal choice to shave or not to shave, but if you choose to.. it's important to soak the area first (in a bath or a hot shower), and exfoliate the area so you can ATTEMPT to prevent ingrown hairs. That's difficult to do in this area because of the texture of the hair and the direction that it grows. That is why most people would recommend wax.. and probably by a professional.
The only real benefits to shaving/waxing/removing that hair is for aesthetics. Many people prefer the way it looks.

I've shaved since I was a teenager. I just feel cleaner. I also think that it cools the area slightly, making it more confortable. Tampons are easier to insert, boys love it and there are no dribbles after going to the toilet. I initially began to impress my bf but now it is just a maintenance thing. If I have more than 5 days growth, I feel dirty now.
Unfortunately, I do get the odd ingrown hair down there but I still prefer it over hair

Dear. Yes sure one should shave down always. If it is not possible every week , at least it should be every fortnight. This keeps the area clean and clear of any infections. As hairy areas have proximity to withhold dirt. Moreover, out of experience, it disturbs entertainment.

women shave to make it more prettier when it gets long and over grown it looks nasty and it's not that sanitary.
Guys shave down there becuase their ego is fragile, specially men with smaller penises so that way it looks bigger when a woman sees them naked!
Me I shave cause previous girlfriends of mine kept complaining of gagging on hair when she was in that area.

its better to wax if you can stand the pain. it will grow back easier and stay smooth longer. if you shave, in a couple days when it grows back its going to itch like crazy.
from a womans perspective landscaping the hair down there is adventageous with cleanliness, sex, and just overall comfort.

it's up to you! it's not cool nor aesthetic when you can see some hair around a bikini's line if you know what i mean

i don't know why but I think that it is asking for trouble because if you keep doing that eventually you will end up with ingrowing hair.

For looks/hygeine/comfort.....you should if you think you'll like it, even if you dont hair grows back.
