most definitely, like when I`m eating and my dog stands and watches every bite I take. When I say no, she goes and lies down with the sad eyed look that melts my heart and I end up giving her exactly what she wanted in the first place. I don`t know if the dog did the manipulating or it was my guilt for denying her some food, whichever, she won, I shared.

Good question. Yes. But I believe that we Allow the dog to manipulate us. When we have a pet that we care about very much, that brings us lots of joy, we hate to see the dog sad And, for instance if we are eating, and the dog watches us with sad longing eyes, we think it is sad and will give in and feed the dog because we know that makes it happy

YOU BET!!!! it can also make you feel a complete heel too!!
if the dog loves to play with the ball, and You don't , it can and will show it's own way of getting the message across, that my "mistess" is a "killjoy" and will show apropriate facial expression s that you will understand as totally #$&^^$* of!!!
just watch your dog and soon youll learn its way of commuinicating , exactly like a little spoilt brat of a human!!!
got a labrador, i got his measure, he's very good at it!

They both try.
Dogs are creatures of habit. And mine are used to going to the dog park everyday for an off-leash run.
I take them around the weather. In winter they go in the afternoon when it's warmer for me.In spring and fall they go around 10a.m. and during the really hot months we're there sometimes at 6 a.m. so we get in our 3 mile hike before it gets too warm for them. The transition from one time to another is awfully hard on our 2 yr.old shepherd. If he's ready to go apparently I should be too and he won't stop pestering me until I say I'm ready.Usually when he's tired of being ignored he'll lay across my lap.His demand to be dealt with.

Yes!!! They are so clever! My mom's poodle actually gets tears in his eyes when he doesn't get what he wants, like food, or to get onto the bed. And we feel so sorry for him that we always give in. Animals can definitely manipulate us.... but that's why we love them, couse they have so much personality!!!

My pit bull is the master of this. He will look at you with those beautiful golden eyes, and I swear tears well up. He also does this thing with his ears, he can of lays them straight back and looks at you with sorrow. He is too cute. A dog definitely knows how to work his master.
