kicker huh? have you listened to kicker? what do you think of them? i personally think they dont sound good. they get pretty loud, but just really dont sound very good to me. if i were you i'd look into a brand called Image Dynamics for my subs. they dont sound bad, and there just as loud as the L5s.
as far as kicker amps go, when they work there ok. i got 4 kicker amps at once 2 years ago. 2 now wont turn on, and 1 i replaced cause the SQ to my fronts wasnt good. i would avoid kicker amps. Your pretty much not going to beat the price of some of the Kenwood Excelon amps. they make a 900 watt mono block amp for about $250. thats hella bang for the buck. and they sound great.
i have a N2. and i'd like to know where the hell you found one for $525. i'd like to know this cause i'd like to buy 10 of them for that price, then sell them on ebay for 2x that much. there a great deck, and i love mine, but if you getting one for 525, just make sure everything works 100% like it should before you buy it. it seems to me like this is used, and your "getting a deal" on it. be careful.
good luck. and step out of Circut City man. there is alot of other great brands and products that CC doesnt sell. you gotta go to a private audio shop to get really good stuff.

I didnt want to answer this question but that first answer was so wrong in every way i guess i have to. What you want seems like it will be OK. I have never had any Kicker product, but one of my friends swears by them and every system he has had sounds good. Definately get a mono amp because bridging a two channel amp is not the best idea for subs. I think that Pioneer makes teh best decks. I have had 4 pioneer decks and then for some reason I got a Kenwood. I paid $500 for it and it is worse than even the cheapest Pioneers I have had. You may actually want to go with 2 or 3 10" subs instead of the 12" becuase they will have a better response to the fast dance music. Generally speaking the larger the sub the better it will be for loud deep bass, but the worse it will be for a lot of real quick hitting bass. THe best thing to do is to go to a store that sells this stuff with a couple of your favorite cds. Then you will be able to see if it does what you are looking for.
In response to pretty ricky I have two JL 12w3s in my bmw. They aer awesome subs and I would highly reccomend them. They are more expensive than the kickers, but are better in my opinion too. My friend had 3 JL 10W7s in his eclipse and it was the loudest thing I hav ever heard. the W7s are unbeleiveable, but the price is unbleeiveable too. Very expensive.

Ok, here I go again. You want to keep it around $1500, is that including installment? If not, i personally like JL audio. I have bought kenwood, JBL, and kickers. All were 10" subs, but with JL audio, I got a good quality sub. Now, granted I got 10"W7 ($550w/ported box), and the 500/1 amp ($300), but I had a lot higher budget. Now for you my friend, seems to me that you want something that sounds good when you go down the strip. I would recommend JL audio 10"-12" W3v3 (new). These may not be competition speakers, but you will shake the hell out of someone. These sus normally run about $200 a pop (im in Afghanistan, so im not sure on prices and actual specs. for JL equipment after jan 06) But you can look at JL audio.com and get that. Wit these subs, im pretty sure this will provide you with enough money to add an ok head unit, the amp that is made for the sub (very important) and a coaxial component system. DO NOT BUY SUBS WITHOUT UPGRADING THE MIDS AND HIGHS, drives people like me crazy. Nothing more annoying than hearing the base of a car 2 miles down the road, but then when he passes you, you still do not know what song it is he is playing because the bass is too much. Like I said, for me personally and through my personal experience, JL audio is the way to go. Great quality subs, great sound, and even better if the amp is made for that sub. With your budget, I would go with either the JL audio T1's (great entry level sub) or the JL auio W3v3 (a lil more expensive, but high db's) fo the amp, research the subs and find out the power requirements. Or ask the sales rep for amp that will go with that sub. Then ask for a decent component system and a head unit to go with it. In my experience, if you stay with a certain store and uy everything from them, they wil hook you up. for example, in 2004, and i still have of this until i get back afghanistan, i bought a JL audio 10"W7 w/ the 500/1 amp (made for the sub), the VR series coaxial component system w/ the 300/4 amp (made for sub). those items came to over $1500. Now i also got an eclipse head unit ($600) for only $450, a viper security system w/remote starter ($600) for $550, a spare battery, and all built in a customized false floor in the trunk for just under $5000. Now, you may say wow, you paid too much. But when you add tax, and labor, thats where the rest of it went. So total I paid maybe $3500 on subs, amps, wires, all that crap, and then rest was add ons (i hate politics). Now, i was setting myself up for car shows, but you know how W7 sound (if not, find out-they will make yousick, literally-trust me, i know), you can get a good quality sound out of a T1, which i hae personally heard. W3v3 came out while i was here overseas, so i have not heard them yet, but I can imagine. For a DVD player, try amazon.com, i know they have a couple at decent prices. I too am looking for a decent dvd player (nothing fancy for I want more audio and visual) and I have seen a few on that sight. If you do get JL audio subs or any subs, go with a 10in or maybe even 12 in. The 2 sizes have the best range to fullfil your eclectic (variety) ways. Good luck to you, if you have any questions, the best i can say is to do some research first, go to different websites and price, go to dealers and see what they say (see if they know their ****). I am going from experience, but take my word, do not rush this. If you do, you will pay a fortune for something crappy because you were in a rush. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Good luck to you on your quest to go deaf like me.
