Okay, here's something unique in Beijing only, not just common Mandarin people speak everywhere else.
"ai-yo-way..." which means like "wow", or "ohhh", or "whoa", things like that.
As for how to get discount, you have to be alert. They might charge you ten times more than they charge a local if they recognize (and they probably will) you're an alien. Haggling is the hard part. You may consider taking a local friend with you to shop.

LOL... Beijing is a place thats basically "rip-off for traveler"
It doesnt matter what you can learn from yahoo answers, they have better techniques to rip you off even tho you thought you are getting a discount.
You basically can't get the discount you want if you dont know the item's original value, even if you do, they won't sell you at that price, because other travelers does not...

"Tai gui le." = Too expensive.
"Duoshao qian?" = How much?
"Keyi pianyi yidian(r)?" = Can you make it cheaper?
Mainly, though, don't be afraid to walk away during a bargaining session. If they don't chase you down when you leave, then chances are the price is decent.
(If you are looking for a fun antique/flea market, check out Panjiayuan).
