I keep being asked to re-enter user name and password which I have done but makes no difference. I also get asked to do this through tools, e mail account etc, again which I have done. I have spoken to BT (my ISP) and a tech friend but to date no answer. Maybe I shall have to reinstall Outlook, but How?

You may have spyware --run a scan. Outlook may be corrupted. You should be able to re-instal it from the disk. It should be on a Microsoft Office disk.

If it' really "OUTLOOK" you can find and make a copy of "outlook.pst", then remove and re-install the program. The copy of the pst file holds all your data and can be restored when you have got outlook running again. If it's "Outlook express" then you can repair it by reinstalling your latest upgrade of Internet Explorer, but your data may be lost.

try disableing your firewall and see if it will send mail, if it works there is a problem on your firewall. Could also be a virus run full system scan. You should not need to reinstall outlook but if you want to it will be on the disk.

I particularly have effectively made a POP/SMTP client setup this morning. i became following the precise data defined for the Outlook 2003 setup contained in the FAQ below (and it truly works also for Outlook 2007, i visit inform now)..
